Most recently Alex Jones said that he has "a type of psychosis where I believe that things are not real". This is consistent with a diagnosis of "Depersonalization/derealization Disorder". While he may have made this claim to reduce the severity of his sentence, I think that his persistent and bizarre denials of reality suggest the claim may have some truth. See:

I never paid attention to him and avoid too much conspiracy thinking exposure. I've been around people like this and what happens is trust was destroyed in authority. When trust is gone, then everything is in question and a scheme. That was what I heard him say... this shooting was all a stunt to justify gun control.

So fundamentally, he has a trust issue. Maybe he's paranoid of government.

If you believe that, then a good liberal judge might say... that jury award is abusive bullying because he's mentally ill, he shouldn't pay anything and he should be released without bond and given money to take the train home. That's how it seems to work in NYC...

Sad for the families... that be awful to go through, money doesn't make up for it...

He knew it was a real shooting but how great a show to say it was fabricated by the Gov't to take your guns away. So , Hopkins knew his movie was not real , but he sure made it a hit. So for Jones acting the part of show host and using freedom of speech , he was fined 1 Billion. Pat Buchanon said there were no Nazi concentration camps and Jews never died in them , should Jews sue him for 1 billion because he doesn't believe there were concentration camps? He is Roman Catholic. Roman Catholics do not like Jewish people , should they be sued 1 billion dollars? I say I hope it rains tomorrow , you don;t want it to rain , but it rains , should I be sued 1 billion dollars?

What I want to know is are all those people who believed him and harrassed those grieving families going to apologize now especially now that this guy says he belives the shooting was real? I realize it's this guys fault but do people not think for themselves anymore, and what made them think they had a right to harrass people anyway? Its like a person who believes the holocaust never happened and says it even after you take them to Belson and the rest of the death and concentration camps, show them the trains, show them the showers/gas Chambers, show them the ovens, have them look at the recorded footage, have them speak with survivors and guards, have them look at the vast paperwork of orders and policy, have them go through the mass graves exhumed the bodies etc and they still personally believe it was all a hoax well there's nothing mote you can do about that but they should be free to believe it and even express it without fear of lawsuits, being arrested or locked up in a re-education centre.

To be clear the holocaust happened. 6 million Jews and possibly as many as 6 million non Jews.

If he simply thought and stated that it was a hoax the judge would have dismissed the case. Being wrong/ignorant is not a winnable claim in this type of litigation. The issue was that he slandered/libeled the grieving families by accusing them of being actors.

What is wrong with him? After years of spewing gibberish he believed he was untouchable, and he carelessly crossed the line between stupid, but free, speech and defamation. He is a clown and I hope his career is truly over.

I thought the issue with that family was that some people were harassing them online because they didn't take Jones' speculation with a grain of salt.

If the fact that Jones told a lie and defamed people was a crime then I think every single journalist out there should be sweating bullets, as they have been making far worse accusations than that and that has turned out that they were liars.

If the accusation was that Jones was directly responsible for the harassment then they need evidence that he told people to do it. Otherwise, there is no way he could be responsible for that.
