Do cops pick up trash in the road?

On the way home I saw people swerving to avoid a bag of trash in the road. The third car was a cop car and he actually stopped to put his lights on. Wonder if he or she actually picked it up or at least moved it to the shoulder. First time I've seen them do something useful

It's not the main thing officers do, rather, it was to avoid an accident or other potentially dangerous situation from occurring. So, the officer put on their lights so people can visibly see and slow down, giving the officer time and safety to remove the trash.

Yep the police serve us so they would clear the roads and do other things for our safety

Never saw it on the community I lived in. Recently moved to a smaller town, maybe the officers aren't full of themselves out here. Saw things impeding the flow of traffic for several days, you're telling me not a single cop drove by and saw it?
