Is it normal for police to patrol the city on a work day?

I saw a security guard parked in front of a mosque while people were inside for some type of event, and I saw multiple sections of street blocked off by police cruisers several kilometres down, and at the place where we were about to park, I saw a police car coming out of the drive way. Either our city now has extra funding for police officers, or they project a potential threat to public safety nearby, and are taking precautionary measures.

It all depends if it was near a mosque there was probably a special person that came in. Or there was some threats done to the people that worship in the mosque and requested police presence. It is also hard to tell without being where you were at to give you a good answer on your situation.

Usually the police are on patrol everyday. What’s the difference?

I'd hope they work on a work day.
