Do police officers ever have a day off? How long are their hours?

They do. Their hours may vary from one department to another. Some departments work four one-hour shifts and some do five eights.

They all have scheduled time off. Sometimes emergencies require them to change their shift or maybe to come in additional hours. That is part of the job. But they will still get time off.
