I think North Pole don't have lightning otherwise polar bears would be extinct because it's so flat so polar bears are the highest things around and would always get struck 🤔 So it made me wonder if a desert without rain gets lightning or every country gets lightning.

We had a great lighting display a few days ago, the best I've seen in years. Barely a few seconds between flashes.

Lightning occurs everywhere on the planet, but your assumption about the North Pole (also applies to the South Pole) is fairly accurate. Lightning is exceedingly rare close to the poles.

And north pole and other cold regions don't have lighting storm, as it requires warm air to form.
