Assuming this happens, I'd expect prices on everything to skyrocket.

I can usually avoid the brunt of oil price and availability issues. I drive an EV, generally charge at work, where work pays for parking and I don't pay to charge, and the power grid has priority. But also, the power grid here is pretty much entirely natural gas and solar. So unlike coal or oil, it doesn't involve as much shipping via diesel train or tank trailer.

So travel and powering the home shouldn't be affected much. And if it is, I already have the heat off most of the time and passively heat the house since it is south-facing, save for a radiant space heater in the bedroom that only turns on in the morning to make it easier to wake up.

So the main concern would be food. I'd expect food prices to shoot up. So if it's a problem, I can go for a decent chunk of time on what I have stashed in the freezer. It would be a lot of chili and pasta for a while, which I'm not complaining about. But I also have, like, 2-3 months of meal replacement shakes and mixes.

If the USA completely runs dry of diesel fuel, we will only temporarily lose the ability to drive our diesel-powered motorhome RVs. Fortunately, our other vehicles require unleaded gasoline fuel.

Also most or all tractor trailers and trains use diesel. Most larger farm equipment. Plus planes use kerosene which is refined diesel!
