I have 1960s-70s style liberal values. My values haven't changed.

After Bill Clinton's first term in office when the Democratic party went full neoliberal, I abandoned the party. I only came back to vote for Obama in his first run, but he turned out to be identical to Dubya. I have voted for independent parties quite a few times, and have voted Republican in state and local elections here in California. I voted for a Republican presidential candidate for the first time in 2020 because the Democratic party was so despicable and its candidates were so horrendous.

Over the past decade or two, the meaning of liberalism has been turned on its head.
I used to think it embodied open mindedness, tolerance, civil rights, women's rights, love of liberty and freedom, distrust of authority, and anti-war. I despise authoritarianism.

I came to the point where I didn't want to be associated with the term liberal.
I didn't turn conservative, but I agree with some conservative stances. Interestingly, more conservatives than so-called liberals agree with my values.

I can't be stereotyped with labels. I don't think anyone can. It's like a form of bigotry.
Labels are used by the political parties to create divisiveness and hatred.

I am no longer influenced by political parties, mainstream media or consensus. I do research and used my brain to form opinions on individual issues. I don't care if those opinions are considered left or right.

So, while I have rejected modern, "woke" liberalism and the Democratic party, I have not exactly switched to Republican or conservative. Instead, I embrace anyone who displays knowledge and common sense.

PragerU and Young America's Foundation (YAF) are great organizations. My family and I have always leaned right and I'm not going anywhere. I am very impressed with the message Tulsi Gabbard sent when leaving the Democratic party.

I know lots of church goers who somehow resolved supporting abortion and being a Christian now in the Right camp. Everyone, even the Catholic, regret voting Biden.
