Why would a woman I was interested in be pissed off at me for this?

So a few years ago I was interested in this woman. She was a bit younger than me.. I pursued her. And she rejected me. So I did as I should. I disappeared.

Later, about a month ago we run into each other. Got to talking, and she asked why I stopped chasing when she rejected me. Why I didn't try harder. I responded simply "you said no. I didn't want to end up in prison for sexual harassment worse so I just moved on". She said I was an asshole and sexist for that.

Sorry in a post #metoo world I'm just not interested in risking prison by chasing once rejected.

Your reaction was harsh and you didn't have to be that serious about it.

But she doesn't have any justification for getting pissed off at you that you didn't pursue her. Maybe this will be the lesson she needed to finally understand that "men love the chase" is mostly a myth. (~ 20% of guys do sort of like it, says one poll I did.)

It doesn't matter. She was never interested, she just wanted you to chase her to boost her ego. You may be a bit paranoid. Nevertheless, in our current society, there is justification for being cautious.
