Tonight my girlfriend and I had a date night. at the restaurant (long horn steakhouse) we went to our waitress who is a friend of mine from highschool that I used to have a crush on. this was the first time in almost 10 years since the last time I saw her. so we have each other a hug. I introduced my girlfriend to our waitress. we ended up added each other on Snapchat and Facebook. I wanted to reconnect with an friend of mine from school. I wasn't trying to flirt. Now my girlfriend is mad because she believed I was flirting with the waitress while she was taking her order. I admit our waitress was cute, but there's no feelings there. we even got our dessert for free because of the old friendship I had with the waitress. even though I wasn't flirting with the waitress my girlfriend is still mad at me and I'm sleeping on the couch tonight. What did i do wrong

You did nothing wrong! I used to be an extremely jealous girlfriend so I can understand both sides of the situation.

She probably feels like perhaps you gave the waitress more attention than you give her or she would like to be treated the same way (happy when you see her like its the first time) I know it sounds ridiculous but some girls want that to not lose the attraction or the love she has for their boyfriend. Another thing that could have happened was you told your girlfriend you used to have a crush on this waitress in HS and that made her upset because then you exchanged social media accounts with her. so she probably thinks you’ll start liking her again.

If your girlfriend feels uncomfortable with you talking to your former crush from HS. You should respect her decision and not talk to her because it will turn into a competition and you wouldn't want your girlfriend to feel like this waitress is a threat to her. Because i feel like you will probably start exchanging messages with her through snapchat and that’s when things get ugly because those old feelings come back to haunt you.

I guess it’s hard not knowing her perspective. Were you giving the friend more attention that her on your date night? Chicks take tht shit seriously….
