It depends on the context, Chef Culo. loyalty is probably the most important thing in a marriage or a good friendship, everyday life requires respect of one another. I don't need the fool on the side walk with purple hair and thirty peircings to even know my name, forget about being loyal but I do want him to respect me.

It sounds like the kind of logic an abusive boyfriend would have to his girl: stick by me even if I do hit you or shout at you all the time. Not only unfair but foolish. No one should be showing loyalty to anyone who knows they aren't being right towards the other person. I don't sit for that kind of stuff.

My point is pretty clear, I just think you're not trying to see it. Nobody should think they deserve loyalty from another if they're not giving back respect. It's not only common sense, it's human decency. But if you think treating somebody like shit while expecting them to still love you or stick by you is okay then good luck on your journey with them.

Either way, whether it's abuse or not, there's no decency in wanting someone to be loyal to you but not respecting them.

How would you feel if your dad always put you down, thought of you as the worst kid of the family - maybe even said as much, always said things to insult you? Yet he expects you to loyally regard him as your father and to obey him and regard him as man of the house? Wouldn't you feel terrible? Wouldn't you want nothing to do with him?
