3.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. he does his best to try and help people even when people refuse to listen to him.
he takes responsibility for things that aren't entirely his fault such as listeners blatantly misinterpreting his messages or slandering his name with his own personal situations that get taken out of context.
you don't have to agree with everything he says or even like the guy but I'd wager his heart is in the right place and he wants the best for everyone which is more than I can say for those on the political-left i. e. the young turks who pretend to care about your best interest when they don't.

I don’t agree with everything he says but overall I do like him and don’t understand why he is so controversial. Maybe I’ve missed something controversial he’s done?

I'll see if I can find you some his controversy

+1 ySmart but kind of weird, and I’m not necessarily sure I agree with all of his ideas. And he talks funny. I guess he’s Canadian? But I don’t think Canadians talk funny. I heard him talking about something or someone being placed in a metaphorical “box”, like to categorize, and he says “box” like “bawe-cks.” I’m not explaining it properly through words, but he does something weird with the ‘o’ sound. “Bwox”, but the “w” is subtle, just to change the tone of the “o.” 😂😂😂
22 Reply- +1 y
So he's weird, cuz he 'talks funny'? What about his ideas?
Somewhat positive. I think he says good things, but I also think most of what he says is common sense stuff and not at all profound.
I have no issues against him, and he's helping out a lot of lost, fatherless boys and young men out there (which I would fall into the demographic of, if I listened to him), but I also don't really follow him or listen to his stuff cause just about everything he says or could say, I already know and consider common sense. I don't think anything he says is all that smart, although some other guys can benefit from him.
Not to mention, he's mostly just about that money and I don't think much of what he says is genuine, otherwise he wouldn't be charging so much money for all of his "advice."
I also find it weird that girls and women listen to him and like him too. I kinda wish they didn't, cause he's specifically meant to be a male role model, and pretty soon, you're going to have right-wing Karens in the "Jordan Peterson Fan Club" changing and ruining everything like females usually do, and the message would just get diluted and lost. It's like men aren't allowed to have anything for themselves anymore. That's another reason I don't really follow him.
Still, I have no problems with him.
I expected this to be a @Physics-Man question with the "positive, negative, or neutral" poll options.

+1 yHe's the average person's idea of a smart person... And he got comfortable being a mentor for incels and younger guys with no character who are dying to have a role model... I listened to him a couple of times before I knew he was was well known.. The guy kept talking for like 30 minutes and he didn't add anything... Just taking and taking with a tone and a manner that he has sense and an intellectual... And he kept mentioning irrelevant stuff from history and biology.. Like I said.. He's the average person's idea of a smart person...

I don’t think anyone said he’s an intellectual giant, but it’s interesting that you went that route with you assessment of him. He’s certainly not dumb and has the courage to say things many would be afraid to say. Anyway, I just thought your take interesting, that’s all

@TheNameIsRob well, people do consider him that... He actually has stans everywhere.. even on this question lol... I didn't say he's like stupid or something... Just a fake intellectual who appeals to some people... If he sticks to just being a psychologist he'll be good... Some people say he actually helped them.. that's great
+1 yPseudointellectual right-wing grifter. Jordan Peterson is what unintelligent people think an intelligent person sounds like. Complicated word salads that mean nothing. Vagueness that's meant to hide his insanely reactionary views on women and anyone who isn't conservative.
Thankfully, in the past few years people finally started seeing through his pseudointellectualism.28 Reply- +1 y

Ehhmm, nope. Peterson is a classical liberal.
In many of his statements, Peterson emphasizes the importance of individual freedom, with particular emphasis on freedom of speech. He sees it as the basic tool to relate to social problems and emphasizes how unobvious and rare from the perspective of world history it is to produce this idea in our civilization. At the same time, he maintains that every freedom comes with responsibility for one's own decisions, and avoiding it only delays their potential negative effects and demoralizes society.
Beside this, he's pro abortion and criticises nationalism. - +1 y
@Cubus Ehhmm, nope. "Classical Liberal" the way it has been used by right-wingers in the past few years is just a fancy word for far right Libertarian, you fucking moron. My God, you right-wing clowns are the most dense creatures on the Earth. You're probably one of those retarded history revisionists who wants to frame the Nazis is anything but far right, let alone anywhere close to left-wing, because they had the word "Socialism" in their name and copied the aesthetics of the Communists. You people are lost causes. Might as well debate someone on whether the Earth is round.
I didn't read past your first line. Since you chose to ignore is when I told you not to bother responding, I'm gonna have to give you a time out. You may shut the fuck up now. :) - +1 y

It looks like he claims to be classical liberal

Yeah, he does.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yHe doesn’t practice what he preaches. He’s a weak dude. His daughter is a thot, because he’s a weak father. He’s constantly crying over nothing. He says that people shouldn’t be afraid of telling the truth and should never compromise on that, but he avoids tough questions. He tells men to be strong and masculine but then he talks about how “scary” and “dangerous” everything is. He tells guys to “clean their rooms”, but he can’t even clean his own room.

Even as a right-winger I’ve never understood the appeal, or why so many praise him. As another user said here he’s a guy who sound really smart to idiots.

+1 yI would not say his teachings are wrong but I do not like his attitude. Life is a sacred gift meant to be celebrated and generously embraced and he makes life sound like a tragic disease. I know people with terrible childhoods that celebrate and embrace and love their lives and all he ever does is talk about how bad things are.

+1 yThe guy that cried because people care about climate change? That guy?
The guy that can't answer very direct questions because he says they are full on nuances? Somehow...
The guy that has no recognition amongst his peers? And even if not respected within his own field, he talks about topics he has no formal education in?
The guy that has proven wrong over and over and still has followers simply because of the specific demographic that he appeals to?
That guy?

+1 yI don’t listen to him regularly, but generally positive. It’s horrifying we’re in such a catastrophically decayed state that he can say simple things like “clean your room” to young boys and actually change their lives.

I used to be messy when I was depressed. Let me tell you you’re home can be a statement of your mental health
He got me outta depression and got me into a degree that is set to pay 6 figures so... positive feelings.

Anonymous(18-24)+1 yVery smart and no agenda, which is refreshing. He just observes, analyzes and tells us his conclusions. You're free to agree or disagree. If everyone did this, we'd have a good, intelligent society, but instead, we have this:

+1 yMakes some good points but comes to the wrong conclusions. He's fighting for the little guy. Like in theory it would work for most people but that's not how life I'd and people on the top in a practical sense won't compromise until they get what they want. So I think he's in dream world for a lot of it.
10 Reply I just remember him saying stuff about women and I thought ‘this dude really doesn’t know a thing about women’

The man has been a clinical psychologist for over 30 years. He knows his stuff. But dumb people have a hard time wrapping their pathetic minds around concepts that are to logical for them and generally attack and shame those ideas as a means of dealing with the uncomfortable.
Those who believe he is a god of incels are generally leftist idiots who hate anything outside their own echo chamber.
Nothing (and I literally mean nothing) he says can not be backed up by science and logic even when it isn’t what people like to hear.
The differences between men and women for example.
He gets emotional (not over nothing like some idiot stated) but because he actually cares. He has compassion and it makes him emotional that he has helped so many.
+1 yI like him. He tells it like it is and many could benefit from listening to some of his stuff.
