Congress has the authority to overrule the strike and stop it. Which would be very ironic as Democrats say they love Unions until it is something that will hurt them.

Essentially they love Union votes but no more.

Of course you realize that they want to strike right before a busy holiday shipping season, to do as much damage as possible. If they waited until the new year, it wouldn't piss off a bunch of people who don't get Christmas stuff on time.

This fascination with hurting others to get support, has never made any sense to me... seems like a great way to get everyone to turn against you.

I eagerly await for the strike to start and the Democratic Congress having to put a stop to it.

Yet if Democrats stop the strike, they are going against their own voter base.

Well, in this case, they might have to. Like Reagan did with PATCO, certain strikes are unlawful or must end by order if it threatens national functioning. In this particular case, the Railway Labor Act applies.

There hasn’t been an extended rail strike in over a century. Railroads are too vital to the economy. Last time this happened, it lasted 2 days before Congress stepped in and legislated an end to the strike and forced arbitration. You can bet a similar scenario will play out again if a strike occurs.

It will strike but I don't think it's because of or not because of President Biden. The negotiations will fail, partly by design, and partly because both sides aren't going to listen to each other yet.
