A federal jury on Tuesday convicted Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and a top deputy of seditious conspiracy for leading a months-long plot to unleash political violence to prevent the inauguration of President Biden, culminating in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Each faces 10 to 20 years in prison.

+1 yfrom what I've seen, it's a stretch... looks like a gathering turned to a riot not a plan. I'm sure they talk all kinds of crap, but where's the plan to seize power and do what they say? If they really wanted to, they would have taken the building easily, there was nothing in their way. 10-20 years... sounds high to me unless they assaulted or disobeyed an officers lawful order.
They were stupid to do what they did, which is what can happen in any large crowd motivated by their beliefs. Heck not far up north of that, years before... they burned women in fires because they thought they were evil. It's group think... humans.
Again, lets turn our effort to real crime so we are safe in our homes and streets. Lets get the processes nailed down so we quell the distrust in the system.

Makes sense. There was definitely a group of people there who wanted to overthrow the government. The only issue I had with the proceedings was that they were trying to blame that on Trump, which I never felt any of the evidence actually indicated
00 Replyyou have to consider what were their motivations for doing so
I am not alone in believing that Biden did not win the presidential election by getting the most votes legitimately
If they believe the same and acted upon it and should it prove to be that the election was 'rigged' then did they in fact do anything wrong?00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI think that either this is a perfect example are corrupt and those who are happy about this conviction are true supporters of corruption and not worth trusting, or the people who claimed the justice system is corrupt after Kyle Rittenhouse's verdict were so wrong that they are not worth trusting.

Opinion Owner+1 yTo the people who dislikes my comment, I suppose if you really want to you can think BOTH people who are happy about this verdict and the people who claimed Rittenhouse's trial was corrupt are groups not worth trusting? I'm open for that they might not be mutualy exclusive, leftists have tendencies to be hypocrites and simply choose whatever benefits them.

Don't forget the totally woke jury. And the judge. They couldn't have actually conspired to try to stop Congress from performing its duty, they're obviously innocent.
The arrogant did go too far, that's why they're going to prison. There are two more trials of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys coming up. - +1 y
@goaded does anyone besided you and a few others really believe that the Oath Keepers were somee kind of mastermind group that planned on taking over the US government and that President Trump was conspiring with them to come up with this plan?
It was not an insurrection, it was a riot. I do not condone it but i do not think it should be called something it was not.

You might have convinced yourselves of that, like you have with everything else you're wrong about, but that still doesn't make it true. What is true is that there was a seditious conspiracy to keep Trump in office after he lost the election. How far up the chain that conspiracy went remains to be seen.
- +1 y
@goaded It was a fed led insurrection run by the deep state to smear trump. Complete with full professional videography of a "scared" nancy pelosi and great acting by chuck schumer wanting to call in an airstrike. followed by a kangaroo court hearing and you dopes lapped it up like the trained dogs you are.

Like I said, you can convince yourself of any such nonsense, it doesn't make it true.
If it were true (it's not), it would have be amazing how much Trump went along it.
Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, there's a high quality video camera in the pocket of practically everyone in the US over the age of 10, not to mention CSPAN, at least, were presumably covering the event; "professional videography" is commonplace. - +1 y

Oh, never mind, there's a list here: www.presidency.ucsb.edu/.../tweets-january-6-2021
The first time any variation on the word "peace" was sent was 19:38:58, 20 minutes after "Mike Pence didn't have the courage to do what should have been done" and 12 hours after "Get smart Republicans. FIGHT!". - +1 y
@goaded
I am asking for everyone at the U. S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!
Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!

@goaded not bullshit at all. It's a proven fact that the FBI interfered with the election by coercing social media companies to squash information critical to the election. It's proven that corporate media colluded to keep trump from getting elected. That's not a fair election by anyone's standard.
- +1 y
No, it is bullshit. Twitter (and everyone else) let Trump spew his lies up until the attack on the Capitol, and nothing justifies breaking the law to stay in power when you lose an election.
The FBI weren't "coercing social media companies to squash information critical to the election" (you mean the laptop, don't you?), they might have said that it's dubious, which has been backed up by further examination. I'm sure you didn't object to Comey talking about Hillary's emails in 2016. - +1 y
- +1 y
No, you saying so doesn't make it true. "In their examinations, Green and Williams found evidence that people other than Hunter Biden had accessed the drive and written files to it, both before and after the initial stories in the New York Post and long after the laptop itself had been turned over to the FBI."

Yes, look at that, you've changed the subject from convicted seditious conspiritors to the only thing Republicans can possibly talk about today (while ignoring Comey's interference in 2016).
So, yes or no: is is acceptable to break the law to stay in power when you lose an election? - +1 y
