Jack Smith, the special counsel prosecuting Trump on charges of plotting to overturn the 2020 election, asked the Supreme Court on Monday to rule on Trump’s argument that he is immune from prosecution.

This is a touch and go situation. Trumps loaded, and he lives for money and as much as we want to see him locked up for breaking the law this will be hard because I feel he is good at paying people off. What are they going to do when he's not on the ballot to be voted for now, this makes me wonder? Are people going to write his name in ?

If they decide that Trump is immune from prosecution for crimes committed as president, I hope Biden shoots Trump and the "justices" that voted that way personally. After all, he would be immune from prosecution.

The difference is that Biden never would do something like that.

I don't know how I feel about Trump now, I'm not in the same country, but it's very obvious that those with power want him gone. Compared to the other stuff that goes down without a slap on the wrist? It's very apparent.

He's trying to move things along. This isn't a "Jack Smith" development. Trump raised the argument and it's ultimately a constitutional question. I'm predicting that even the conservative court isn't going to rule that the President is immune from prosecution for crimes committed while in office.

Pretty standard legal attempt. On the snowball's chance in hell they say yes it precludes a lot of other things. Doesn't hurt to ask. Motions to dismiss are filed all the time with no real thought that it'll work. The standard is so low for indictment to have a judge dismiss with prejudice against a DA or empaneled grand jury is so unlikely it's practically a waste of paper to file it, but hey... pull the slots... SOMEONE is getting jackpot.

As legal maneuvers go, asking for Supreme Court intervention is not unheard of. It would speed things up because this question would ultimately end up there anyway.
