When will the political divide in the US end?

Republicans think they’re smart, and liberals are the stupid ones and vice versa. Enough already. Just because someone doesn’t think the same way you do, doesn’t make them stupid. It just means that their life experiences were probably different than yours, and they have a different world view.

Well, the disagreements won't- that's an inherent feature of humanity (and it IS a feature, not a bug; those disagreements have prompted us to do many wonderful things, in addition to all the horrible ones). But the massive seething split? That'll keep going until there's more motivation to pull together than push apart. Considering how many people make their meal ticket off of exploiting that anger and resentment, I wouldn't bank on it happening any time soon.

It won't. The problem is not the divide, which goes back to Adams and Jefferson at least. The problem is the lack of respect and automatically attributing "evil" to those who disagree. Goldwater and the Kennedys were friends. We need a return to civility.
