Why do some people not try to word their opinions nicer on this website?

For example “I don’t believe in God” sounds a lot nicer and less harsh than saying something like “People who believe in God are retards.”

Because no one is obligated to kiss your ass over the internet and offense is always taken, not given. If you're over 18, you're a grown-ass adult and adults are such because they are independent and responsible for their own lives. If you need to be coddled or in a safe space or people kissing your ass all day, or treating you like a sensitive toddler or baby, then just stay off the internet.

The ENTIRE internet actually used to be this way, until about 2012 or so. This hyper-sanitized, pussified version of the internet with "Safe Spaces" and hugboxes, has only been a thing for ten years now, and mainly only on Google/Alphabet run companies, Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook. GAG is mostly about free speech, but not when some asshole mod is involved.

I'm not sure if you're referring to me or not, cause I had a recent post where someone said "The way to anger a conservative is to tell him a lie, and the way to anger a liberal is to tell him the truth." And I brought up, "What if you tell a conservative God isn't real? (Because He likely isn't.)" I myself have never said "People who believe in God are retards." nor do I believe that myself. But I am very much against religion in general, but not necessarily spirituality. I just see man-made religious dogma for what it is: A way for corrupt men (and women) to gain power and control people.

But yeah, no one is obligated to kiss your ass and placate your feelings like a little child. If you can't handle this on the internet, you don't stand a chance in the real world.

Because I’m not obligated to pander to your feelings, neither is anyone else. If your feelings get hurt that’s cause you chose to let your feelings be hurt. Everyone is raised different, I’m not going to go around asking every person at what level does your feelings get hurt so I know how much or how little I can say. Not going to happen.

Because sometimes niceness doesn't get the point across. Like with your example, I don't believe in God vs God believers are retarded, expresses two wholly different sentiments.
