What do you think would happen if all the human males of the world suddenly disappeared?

Give your best story to animate the idea. Would you suppose that women would struggle but work through it? Or do you suppose that without men they would all die off immediately?

If men were to disappear, the majority of infrastucture jobs would very quickly grind to a halt.

The power would go offline, construction would shut down, garbage would go uncollected, sewage treatment would stop. Auto mechanics, plumbers, and electricians would mostly disappear. There would also be a massive food shortage, as the majority of farming, livestock raising, and fishing are done by men.

I'm not saying that women aren't capable, or that they couldn't take over, but as those industries are mostly male dominated, there would definitely be a period of catastrophic shutdown/shortages.

Similarly, if women disappeared, then a disproportiate amount of social services would also shut down. There would be a sudden, and severe, shortage of healthcare workers, educators, and childcare workers. Every husband who supports a stay at home mother would have to quit working, so he could be there for his children.

Again, men could adapt, but in the meantime, there would be utter chaos as basic society falls apart, until those gaps could be filled.

The truth is, men and women need each other more than some would care to admit. Modern society requires both genders in order to function effectively, not to mention the obvious requirements for reproduction. We both contribute to the communities that we've created, and we're both essential.
