There are some points in the article that indicate how this would be a bad idea.
- Medication abortion and miscarriage are medically indistinguishable.
- It could discourage women having pregnancy complications from seeking care if they are worried about being scrutinized.
- An investigation would have to occur to find out whether or not the pregnancy loss was intentional which means every women presenting to a medical facility with symptoms of miscarriage would have to be investigated by law enforement.
I understand why some people don't like the idea of abortion, or those that are against elective abortions past the first trimester. However, the only way I could see abortion being a prosecutable offense of the pregnant women would to investigate every women in Arkansas or Oaklahoma, who's had a miscarriage. It seems to me that would be a major invasion of privacy, and traumatic for women suffering a miscarriage.
