Digital currency is a currency not manipulated by governments. While the value is not 'tied' to the U. S. dollar, that has its benefits and deficits.

Is digital currency the future? We shall see. But when Reagan took the U. S. dollar off the gold standard supply, he did a great disservice to the world. Blame him.

I doubt it. Most people don't know how bitcoin works (me included) and many don't trust it.

I think these alternative currencies are a scam. We need to return to precious metal currencies.

That would be for the best, but with the sheer number of fiat Yuan and Pounds and Rubles and Dollars and Rupees etc in circulation, the value of metals would shoot up unobtainably high for almost anyone on earth who hasn't visited Davos recently. Remember also what happened to the last leader who wanted a metals backed currency that threatened the central banks' chokehold on world economies: "We came, we saw, he died *cackle cackle cackle*".
