I don't think any of you are understanding the significance of these balloons... For one China has some of the most advanced satellite systems in the world for spying, using a balloon for spying is unlikely, they were most likely measuring live weather data/winds for a possible strategic plan whether that be an EMP or Nuclear plan, this isn't the first time they've done this exact route either. The balloon was flying over our nation's most important ICBM (Intercontinental ballistic missile) sites... War is close... don't buy into what the US claim its being used for... they're misleading the public to avoid fear and mass panic. But good news they shot it down (: even though that's solves nothing, given the fact the data was most likely being monitored live by Chinese military.

You should easily be able to see B-52s from the ground, just like you can see commercial planes at cruising altitude with the naked eye from the ground.

On a clear night you can even see satellites in orbit.

They know the balloon is there, why would it be so difficult to examine it?

Actually commercial airlines fly higher than that, and B-52s normally fly lower than that. It's possible for a B-52 to get up to that height, but not when fully loaded or if they have to fly long distances.

The point is that at 60K feet a balloon can very easily be inspected from the ground in a lot of detail. Satellites orbiting the Earth have good resolution of the ground and even have depth perception of <1cm. Earth based systems will have far better.

He doesn't know how to ascend steep steps like say those for boarding an aeroplane. Often he doesn't know how to compile words together to form a coherent sentence. Sometimes he doesn't even know how to say words. Sometimes he doesn't know that when you start saying a sentence, it's generally expected that you will finish saying that sentence. He doesn't know that it's possible for black people to not vote for him. He doesn't know that it's generally not good PR to casually refer to a member of the public by the name "Fat".

I don't think it's ludicrous to doubt his ability to acknowledge what a spy can do, or what a balloon can do. So I highly doubt he knows what a spy balloon can do.

@exitseven I never saw it shot down, so I didn't see that. But I heard it was very high up, so maybe it could have had a basket like those hot air balloons have. I just that just because the commander in chief is an idiot, our military knew it was a threat of some kind. We will never know why it was shot down, or who blew up Russia's pipeline.
