In the Army, only officers were called Sir or Ma'am. An NCO is always addressed by rank, or in this case, "Drill Sergeant." They're basically going to do what the Army has been doing for decades, but failing miserably from an image standpoint by making it seem woke.

Ya, why not. Sometimes people don't know what I am and i don't even dress in a gender-neutral uniform like army people do. I can see how they could get confused when everyone looks and sounds very similar to each other. Easier to just go neutral.
