New-born (10-day-old boy) and mother saved after four days in rubble in Turkey, it is miracle
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yMost definitely not.
Here’s the deal: exceedingly unlikely events will happen. Given enough space and time, something that has a 0.0000001% chance of happening will happen. The fact that it is this exact cohort of human beings that exists and not some other one is exceedingly unlikely. If any of our fathers had masturbated one more time or one time fewer, we wouldn’t exist. Yet someone was going to be born if our parents kept having sex. And out of all the possible combinations of sperm and egg, the one that led to us is the one that happened, by chance.
When you look at it from the point of the conclusion, it seems like a miracle. But when you start at the start, you see that everything that happens in life is the result of a very unlikely chain of events. Sometimes we can explain that chain. Sometimes we lack some information and we can’t explain what happens. It doesn’t make it a miracle.
Stuff happens. Unlikely stuff happens. You exist. Unlikely stuff will happen to you.
That’s really all there is to it.

+1 yThere are several reasons I do not believe in miracles:
1. Lack of empirical evidence: Miracles are often based on personal anecdotes or religious texts rather than empirical evidence that can be independently verified through scientific inquiry. This lack of empirical evidence can lead some people to be skeptical about the existence of miracles.
2. Inconsistency with natural laws: Miracles are often described as events that defy the laws of nature, which can be seen as inconsistent with the fundamental principles of science and the natural world.
3. Alternative explanations: Many events that are seen as miraculous may have alternative explanations that do not require the involvement of supernatural or divine forces. For example, a sudden and unexpected recovery from a serious illness may be due to the body's own healing mechanisms rather than a miraculous intervention.
4. Cultural and religious bias: Belief in miracles may be influenced by cultural or religious bias, which can vary widely across different cultures and belief systems.
5. Logical inconsistencies: The concept of miracles can also be logically inconsistent, as the idea of an all-powerful and benevolent deity intervening in the world to perform miracles raises questions about the nature of free will and the problem of evil.00 Reply
+1 yOnly people who have never seen miracles don’t believe in them a friend of mine was in a house fire his mom and dad got out but they couldn’t find their son his mother was crying because he was in there too long they were expecting to see a corpse but when they brought him out he was still alive I don’t know what you know about carbon monoxide but any normal person would’ve been in under 2 minutes he was in that house for 20 minutes and didn’t die Even the fire medics were stunned they said and I quote “ It is impossible for a human being to survive in a burning house that long I don’t know how this kid is still alive”

+1 yNo. I believe in dumb luck and perfect conditions. I think people use the word miracle in such disrespectful ways. It's not a miracle that they were saved, people worked their asses off to save them, saying it's a miracle is dismissive to their hard work.

+1 yI believe in miracles... You sexy thang...) lmao
That however is not one,(sorry to step on it as definitions are important)
A miracle refers to a work of the divine that defies scientific or rationale explanation. most of what we call a miracle is easily explainable by just natural self occurring things... Like people actually looking for someone and finding them in rubble (after they knew where the tragedy took place and where to look)... That's not a miracle, although a perfectly happy event... Him levitating out of the rubble all on his lonesome would be a miracle.

+1 yI don't think I ever looked up the dictionary definition of what most people call "miracles". But it's no shit that we're not a result of random chemical reactions, as if that was the case (where would they come from in the first place?), then no such thing as consciousness would ever begin to exist. What I just said requires only logic. "Believing in miracles" requires special experience that hasn't yet been "debunked".

These questions keep coming up. Of course there is a cause for EVERY effect. But there is also the law of mentalism, and a whole spiritual world, not everything that exist can be measured in a laboratory.
Some of the causes for your actions are your thoughts and emotions, but we can not scientifically predict what your thoughts are going to be. So people should quit ignoring the spiritual world just because it's not taught in science classes.
And yeah, defying laws of physics, I KNOW it happens in the sense you ask about.
Though logically, those who follow scientism should have noticed that the big bang already violated the laws of physics by creating something out of nothing (but I'm joking because I know that the big bang model is a symbol for the same old esotericism.)
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 ySo the rescuers (human) rescue the children, and you thank God. But as for the Earthquake which killed thousands and definitely had nothing to do with men, your God gets a free pass?
You religious spastics make no sense to me. If your God was real (he's not) he did the Earthquake and killed plenty. The ones who saved children were humans.

+1 yNot in the literal (Biblical) sense. I believe in luck and I believe in shit happens. The idea that God murdered thousands but reached out to protect two individuals doesn't sound logical to me.
Also, if it was me, I think I'd still be mad about my house falling on me.

+1 yNo. I believe life is a roll of the dice. Some numbers come up more often than others. And the common results become expected. When a rare combination of numbers pops up, it's not a "miracle". It's just probabilities playing out. :)
00 Reply 1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No but you can be extremely lucky, or in this case it could have easily been the opposite, how many people get pinned under rubble and not found? So luck can easily become unlucky in these circumstances.

+1 yI do, but that is speaking from the Bible perspective. You'll know one when you see it and know that it is not just blind luck.

+1 yThe miracle isn't so much what they survived, but that they weren't instantly crushed to death first. Only in time will God make clear why they were spared from an earthquake known for having no mercy.
00 Reply5.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That's amazing! But I don't believe in miracles. If miracles were true, there would no suffering and our world wouldn't be in the s****y state that it is.
10 Reply3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. How is that a miracle? In what way is it scientifically impossible that breaks scientifical laws?
And nope I don't because either one is lying/misinformed about one they saw.00 Reply- 5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yOf course, I believe in miracles. And given how much hatred and vitriol is in this world, it is a miracle that humankind has not destroyed itself yet.
07 Reply- +1 y
Most human beings are quite peaceful, and the violent ones often are stopped when something horrible happens. Look at the Nazi Holocaust. Hitler did murder millions of people, but some escaped, and eventually as good as forced Hitler to commit suicide.
- +1 y
@HippieVeganJewslim Yes, look at the Nazi holocaust and the number of people who participated and the number who sat by and "peacefully" watched six million Jews get murdered. And it wasn't like Hitler hated the Jews right? He just needed an ethnic group to blame for the nation's ills
But the amazing thing when you look back over his life, is how many people made excuses for him, because they wanted to "peacefully exist". As though ignoring his increasing unhinged and violent behavior would lead to peace.
The point is, not only is there a growing amount of vitriolic hatred in this world. More and more people are excusing it or avoiding confrontation with it.
It is simply a miracle that the human race has not destroyed itself yet. And if will be another miracle if we survive a measly 20 more years.
- +1 y
I reckon the Hour is the only thing that might end the human race in the next 20 years, but it probably won’t. Us Jews ain’t the only people Hitler wanted to exterminate. He wanted to wipe out the disabled, homosexuals, intellectuals, Blacks, Roma, and I reckon Russians, even. 13 million ain’t making a big difference to five billion or some other big number.
- +1 y
@HippieVeganJewslim You realize that WWII killed over 80 million people right? Almost all of those deaths from conventional, non-nuclear weapons.
And the population of the world. The estimated population was 2 billion. So many people died, so many displaced, so many injured/maimed/traumatized, so much destruction, the world vowed to never again sit by and watch another genocide. But basically broke that promise the day after the decree.
Because so many people don't see their racism and bigotry as simple racism and bigotry.
- +1 y
WWII was bloody horrible, but more Americans died in the War Between the States than in both World Wars combined. 80M/2B=1/25. Aye, 4% of the world’s population wiped out is a lot. Sure is a miracle that one man (or his whole party) can do that much. Reminds me of the bubonic plague. However, four per cent ain’t enough to wipe out the human race entirely. Remember the Genesis story of the Great Flood? It killed the whole Earth (or just a large area) save a couple and their three sons and their wives. Six people repopulated the Earth (or that area), so most likely that much of the Earth could do it again.
- +1 y
@HippieVeganJewslim You are talking about Americans. I was talking about the human race. I made my statement and you approached me. So at least make your argument on the terms that were set.
And it isn't just 4% of the world's population. Think about all the survivors. The many more that were injured. Relatives, friends, family, etc. that were affected by the loss of life, the destruction of homes, property, businesses.
But at this point, I don't know if you are agreeing or disagreeing. . .
So I will just attend to some other threads. Got like 70 things to respond to today. - +1 y
10% ain’t too much of a miracle, but something large like 50% might’ve been.
Miracles as in miracles? No.
Was what happened there in Turkey wonderful/amazing/awesome/very small chances? Yes. But it was not a miracle.
00 Reply12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Always believe in miracles.
Only a nasty, faithless, bastard doesn't.
Hence why they will usually have miracles and good vibes missing from their sad, empty lives.
00 Reply1.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No, I do not believe in Miracles. To believe that a Miracle has occurred, we have to know the CAUSES of EVERYTHING, or at least the ability to know the causes of everything.
00 Reply- 1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yNope and I'd say that's hardly a miracle depending on your definition. Your if definition is simply something that is lucky I guess it's a miracle I only had to help one customer yesterday with the ice cream machine and not 20
00 Reply 1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Of course I believe in miracles! Crazy coincidences are sometimes called miracles and I don't think they always are. But to find intervention? Acts of God that are outside of nature but don't conflict with it? Yes those are definitely miracles
