So they basically get together just to make their lives easier. Reminds me of some of the things I've seen in the military overseas, where two people like a slut and a gay man get married for the sole purpose of being allowed to live off base and not have to come back to the ship before midnight. Your entitlements went up because that COLA pay for living off base is nothing to laugh at... and I mean damn... I don't blame them. I personally went the E-4 over 4 years route to get my first place, but I don't blame them for doing what they got to do to get by.

I mean I even saw a straight dude marry a gay dude because it just gave them things they wouldn't have otherwise. That straight dude was banging a different Japanese chick like every night. The gay dude had his boyfriend and they just did their own thing.

So what do you think about the system's incentives to get married and how it is effecting us in the long term?

It's a false economy and they are actually going to fall into a deep debt hole in half the time.

They do not get the tax savings of married couples, nor do they get the family benefits.

All they do is spend, spend, spend and leave a handsome corpse. As if they do manage to live to old age it will be all alone in a run down home they will barely afford. While hoping of not having to be resuscitated to face more loneliness and bills.

It has nothing to do with being a “slut” or a gay man. It’s usually just immature kids 18-20 who want more money and to get out of dorms.

I think that kids just need to get their priorities straight and understand that it’s not just all about the money.

If you’re referring to couples who just don’t want to have kids, then I’m pretty indifferent and see no issue. That’s their choice.

I don’t know anything about the military aspect of it. But as a civilian, this is currently how my husband and I are living. Dual Income No Kids. Yet.

I couldn’t care less about what other people do or how they live their lives. I don’t use TikTok or really any social media like that, so I don’t give these people the attention and internet points they desperately want. Lol.

I knew a few when I was raising my kids. They drove BMWs and porches and went on nice vactions while my wife and I struggled to pay the mortgage every month. Still I am glad we had our kids.

I know the feeling. They were doing all sorts of things and I was just stuck with my wife and kids. You know, the simple things like "no, I'll have to turn down the extra drink because I got to get the kids to school at 6am tomorrow."

The only other time I felt that way was when my stubborn single mom would basically starve us for her pride, while my aunt (which was younger than me) and step-grandmother had giant TV's in every room and nobody there worked at all... they just lived off welfare. I was like "damn, I haven't eaten anything but toporamin for the past month... they got turkey and shit." Not joking, they had a fancy car, a house while I was sharing a room with my sister in a trailer... Yeah... I'm just going to say it sucked. No joke.
