Are you sad about President Carter?

He wasn’t a particularly good president and I disagree with a lot of his politics, but he seems like a really good person. I was saddened to hear he doesn’t have a lot of time left

He was maybe the last President who tried to make a difference.

Last president to really try to help the people. He did a lot of good in protecting the environment and when I say protect the environment I don't mean forcing people to get rid of gas stoves I mean stopping corporations from dumping toxic waste and contaminating the environment. He was the first president to say that we need to be less reliant on foreign oil. He was probably the last President that built and maintained us infrastructure. Stabilised the economy still recovering from Vietnam. I think its a shame he's only remembered for the Iranian hostage crisis.

Outside of of the presidency he served in the navy and led a maintaince team to prevent a nuclear meltdown in Canada. He campaigned for human rights. He was awarded the Nobel peace prize and medal of freedom. Then there's Habitat for Humanity. The man was a legend and a true American hero.

Also why not. Red China was a reality and the last country to defeat the US military in battle. Splitting the soviet union and red China apart was a strategic master stroke. If the US had been able to get China on side in the 60s the Vietnam war may have gone a different way. Carter carried on what nixon started and what Reagan would carry on.

We're either a democratically elected government? Civil war is over the nationalists lost but maintain control of Taiwan and that's the lay of the land. We had to recognise the soviet union.

He was a kind and decent man. He did a lot for Habitats for Humanity and other charitable organizations. There were a minimum of scandals while he was in office. He was president during a very difficult time. Double digit inflation, an energy crisis and the Iran hostage crisis made him a one term president. How much was his fault can be debated but he really was not a good president.

I am glad he lived long enough to see a President who was more incompetent than he was.

Even though he lasted only one term, he was still a million times better than the president who followed him, and from whose poor decisions we're still suffering from.

Yes. I wasn’t around for his presidency, so I can’t comment on that. However, decades of charity work and advocacy probably made him America’s best ex-president. A genuinely good man.

Not really. I might be sad if he was in his 70s or even early 80s, but the guy is 98, and I'm honestly surprised that he made it as long as he did.
I didn't agree with his domestic policies either, but as a person he seems like a very nice and cool guy. And he's such an icon, and has negotiated the release of so many Americans. He's one of those people you can love no matter which side of the political spectrum you're on.

If he's not sad how can I be. Him and may not agree politically. But he has done God's will for 98 years. The best way he knew how. He fought the good fight, he ran the race, he kept the face. Rest my friend.

He was the only president not have America in a war. Obama didn’t get us into a war, which was a recent first, but Carter kept the peace. People don’t like that apparently.

Instead we Reagan who started the deficit.

Same. He was a horrible president, but seems like a very good person. He is up there in years, though. None of us live forever.
