Do you feel sad for Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter?

I don't think highly of his time as President, but they seemed like good people, and very sorry to see her die, and how he is also nearing the end. Although the two of them had the sort of love story that some of us dream of having.

Like you, I thought Jimmy Carter was a horrible president but the most decent person who has occupied the White House in the past 100 years. I suspect that Jimmy will now lose his will to live and pass away very soon.

If she was a good person she is in heaven so her death is only half a death because her soul would be in paradise where life is better than here for those that live well on earth. I watched a tv show where a family decided to scatter their murdered family members ashes in the ocean and as soon as her ashes hit the ocean waters, a crowd of dolphins circled the ashes and swam in formation around the dead woman, a sign from God she went to heaven and even the animals in the sea know it.

He was an awful president. He was absolutely useless during his presidency, and one of his accomplishments was federalizing mental health care, which defunded state-run mental health care and forced everyone into the federal system. Of course, they neglected to actually FUND this care, which is how so many people with serious mental health problems ended up on the streets.

Carter had no backbone and no leadership during some of the darkest days of this country, and instead of taking action, he met with his cabinet and sat in the While House with his head in his hands, talking about the "great malaise" the country was in.

That's why he wasn't reelected, Reagan got things done - he didn't need 45 days of meetings to figure out what was right - it was obvious, and he got to work, and the country rebounded.

He might be a nice man personally, but as a president, he was completely unable to lead.

When Carter was lowered in, his job was simply to turn a single screw."

That was Carter. The entire US economy was an absolute disaster due to Carter's policies. It was Reagan who turned the economy around. The economy during the 80s expanded more than double, despite many challenges such as companies off-shoring manufacturing. There was also a massive drug problem - a problem that Carter did virtually nothing to stop, which led to the crack epidemic of the 80s that had fallen into Reagan's lap. While it certainly wasn't perfect for everyone, unemployment was down 2/3 under Reagan compared to Carter, and average annual income was way up.

It was also a Democrat-controlled Congress who refused to pass most of Reagan's spending cuts.

@MrOracle the us economy in the 70s was still recovering from the Vietnam war, all Reagan did was empower the military industrial complex and deregulate the banks.
