Are you sad about Jimmy Carter dying?

Not a fan of his Presidency or most of his politics, but he did a lot of good for people and lived a pretty humble and selfless life. I was saddened to hear the news, even if it was only a matter of time.

I mean, he lived to be 100 which is quite an achievement. If he was a couple decades younger it would've been sadder. And he got to have one last Christmas.

The concept of death in general is sad, that one minute we're here, the next we're not, especially since the person has been around your whole life. But it's less sad because it was expected. He was already sick and I'm surprised he lived as long as he did.

And he died with a good reputation. Sure he had some very bad domestic policies, but he never had any scandals and it seems most people remember him for freeing the hostages and his aid work and negotiations he conducted after he left office. So I think he will be remembered in history as a good man

Carter did all the negotiations. The terrorists just deliberately waited for Regan to assume office to troll Carter.
Even Regan himself gave Carter credit for freeing the hostages, as did the hostages

Yes, his presidency was a part of my youth. The 70s were a very unique time.

I think when you look at some of the other incumbents of The Oval Office, he was a decent bloke. 100 is a bloody good age.
