Every article on the topic basically says "homosexuality (as in, simply being gay and not merely making a public display of it) will be criminalized". Being that a good number of these articles are Western in origin and we are heavily LGBTQ+-invested, it is possible that this is true OR it is equally plausible that it is merely being highly sensationalized. After all, it has long been the case that journalistic ethics go out the window whenever there is a quick buck to be made. Nothing gets views like headlines/news articles that enflame tensions as opposed to revealing the truth of the matter.
Let's assume that the harshest elements of these articles are true, which is to say "if you are discovered to be homosexual, you will be jailed simply for existing". Is this a good thing? In my humble opinion, no, it is not. In theory, we can say that "simply being gay is not a criminal act, because what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home is up to them and them alone. Nobody is criminalizing your thoughts." In the real world, where people actually live, anyone who has ever experienced a sexual impulse (so, basically, everyone who is not ace) would agree that, on closer examination, this is utter nonsense. The fact of the matter is, sexuality requires a third party.Even in sexual fantasy, there is no such thing as "sexual attraction to the idea of sexual attraction", i. e. being horny just because. There is always a subject of the interest, even in the abstract. A gay male will necessarily fantasize about the idea of sexual activity with another man, not just "being gay" generally. To suggest sexual orientation can occur independent of other people is fiction of the highest order--unless we're talking about bestiality, but that's a red herring and thus not relevant, since we're talking about humans. So, when straight people say "you can still be gay, just don't talk about it", they are speaking out of both sides of their mouth and they know it, even if unconsciously.
Which is to say, criminalizing LGBTQIA+ (as an aside, if we keep adding letters to this alphabet soup, we're gonna need an acronym for the acronym, because it is basically an unpronounceable word at this point) as simple as eliminating the capacity to engage or even raise the topic, regarding one's non-straight orientation, in a civilized manner, without being arrested. If straight people were suddenly jailed just for talking about how attractive the opposite sex is, they'd come to this realization right quick. However, perhaps this is not what Uganda is doing and all of this speculation is misplaced. It is very easy to be an activist behind a keyboard. It is very different altogether to live whatever reality they and all other East African nations are dealing with.

Congratulations to them. A good chunk of Africa is rebelling against the West and its "values," expect to see more things like that.
But in the case of Uganda, the scummy mafia called the US government is using the excuse that Ugandans are "homophobic" because the country has gold deposits worth $12 trillion... So they conveniently need "freedom & democracy."
You're not hearing our media bash less fortunate countries like Mali or Zimbabwe, guess why...
Its their country, why should I care what other people in other countries want to do. If that is the popular belief there and the morals there. I have no right to say they are right or wrong.
It’s absolutely disgusting. We go to war over land and oil but not human rights, very showing

Good for them. Never allow any foreign power bully you into changing your laws or challenging your sovereignty. The United States are never "told off" by any other nation despite everyone having opinions about their internal matters, but the US government thinks it can just bully other people into submission with regards to their own laws and policies. They think they are the world police.
Degeneracy should have no place in any society, so I'm with them on that. May be the west can learn a thing or two from them.
It's been illegal for years! I don't know why people are saying this is a new policy. Black counties have a history of homophobia. It's stupid because you can't choose to be gay, but I agree with making public displays of homosexuality illegal.
Aslong as they have open borders for those people to cross out of, it's really not a issue. at least it stop government from funding these crazy projects. West should let these people manage themselves and not give them special treatment. Ie not forbid it, but simply not funding it and it will basically be none existant. Stop wasting our common economy on pampering mental illness.
I just find it hilarious how many Americans are celebrating this and claim that America should do the same while also claiming America is the best and most free country in the world
Their country, their choice, not my business and nor do I care. Personally if you don't live in a country that has certain laws or ideals you don't align with, while you may and can have an opinion, your opinion means jack shit, especially to those who live in the country.
look its been less than 10 years since we were forced by the court to let the gays marry and we are arguing about what a woman even is now.
tolerance cannot build a society, things are falling apart. hate unites us more
Well, the overwhelming majority of the world does not share the agenda of Western elites and activists. So why would we expect Uganda to toss their values to the wind to please these Western cultural imperialists?
Frankly I don’t really give a rats ass what happens in Uganda
My thoughts are that it might be sensastionalized. It might not be as stern as media makes it out to be, and that the type of leftists who use arguments like "it doesn't affect you" to shut down arguments they don't like will probably bitch about this even thought a lot or most of them don't live in Uganda themself.
I don't care. Its their country. If that's what he majority wants then they should be free to do that.
I guess they saw the troubles that South Africa is having and got jealous of all the pointless suffering.
So am I getting the gallows for being pansexual? Why? It’s in my genetics! So mad! No more queer folks? Listen, not everyone can be as ‘normal’ as the government!
They should be free to run their Country as they see fit.
I can’t change it but it seems like discrimination to me.

They are very intolerant people. They are racist and homophobic
Lgbqt should be abolished from every country.
Well Africa is a pretty backwards continent, but, it's not much worse than American politics, under republican rule
All they did was codify an unspoken rule there.
they got one thing right at least
