What do you think of India?

never been there, would like to see it.
They have amazing soil around those himalaya mountains and productive farmers making some good stuff the rest of us are lucky to eat.
I see a lot of good, they are intelligent people, they care, have good hearts.
I don't like their cast system, I think it's sick.
I also don't like that I've seen photos of their people being enslaved in miserable conditions... pathetic.
Their people are both sweet and sour. The sour part is their culture is different... they are cheap and will do everything to screw you over. It may depend on the person, just like in USA, but their culture is to negotiate everything... it's annoying to deal with.
They were terribly mis treated by the British, so eventhough I'm not British... am sorry for all that.
I like working with Indian people as they still have time for people whilst working hard but I have not been to the country.
India has become very important in Geopolitics. I understand they have taken an unaligned approach but I don't see how they can be friendly with China when China launched border skirmishes against India during the depths of the covid pandemic China bestowed upon the world.
Generally I think Indian people are more inclined to the West than the governing elite might be but then there is a self selection factor with the Indian people I have worked with in Australia.
And they play cricket! Australia did some good cricket diplomacy in India recently.
I'm from East India and I have never went abroad so I can't really compare but I can say that the region I belong to was quite underrated before, it developed a lot. So I can say India is developing well now but has a lot of room for improvement.
I still stay in the same city I took birth in.
Yes, in India. Yeah I know about Pondicherry.
Of course, that place is itself exotic and stands out from rest of the country.
Have you ever had to deal with any racism in India? i heard from a couple indian people on this site that there can be some racist types in your country. like the lighter skin types can be racist against the darker ones.
ever experience any of that yourself?
@Still-alive No, I was never criticised for my skin colour because I am basically on the fair side but I do get a slight tan during school days because of the sun. I'll say my skin complexion is fair with slight tan which is noticeable. But yes, I was bullied for my religion in my previous school but that's not the case now.
ah yes was gonna ask about your religion as well.
well good you are in a better place than before
@Still-alive yes, things are far far better now. I am not an odd one for bad reasons out because I can blend with other students pretty well.
I recall another indian girl on this site a could years back told me that she was harassed for being tamil by other Indians. and Also north Indians tend to look down on south Indians. you ever witnessed any of that?
i find it fascinating because here in america we are pretty used to seeing racism play out and don't think about how other countries especially asia might also be racist too so lol.
@Still-alive In Asia, Be it the eastern side or southern side, fair or pale skin complexion is like the first and the most important part in beauty standards. If you have dark skin colour then you're considered dirty and disgusting. Yes, it's true about people with fair skin complexion looking down on dark skin complexion but it was worse before and situation is pretty much open now. Yes, there are people who still look down on dark skinned people but it's less now, and this mentality is commonly present among middle aged people and people elder than that. This mentality is barely present in people from my generation.
lol yup sounds like us too we call the older racist people here 'boomers' its that closed off 'i know better than you' attitude and unwilling to hear alternative ideas to their own. and yes they are usually very racist or bigoted too.
@Still-alive yes, unfortunately my mom was one of them 🤣 not as extreme but you can see a hint of disgust in her eyes when I talk about my favourite rappers who are usually African. But she's becoming open minded with this thing, because she doesn't have that 'I know better than you' attitude. And because I criticize her s lot for such thinking. I'm sure if kids try from their side then their parents will overcome this mentality in few years like my mom. It's not their fault since they inherited this from their parents and there was no internet and such fancy things for them to explore world easily.
Yeah fortunatly Gen Z'ers your generation are some of the most progressive we probably have ever had in our history. makes me a bit hopeful for better things once the older generations die out.
I mean i don't want your older loved ones to die of course but the world does need better changes. more empathy too. i think your generation gets it.
@Still-alive I get your point.
That picture is beautiful. I love the dress and dance style of Indian culture. I want to try their food. My Indian ex was too Americanized and so we ate Mcdonalds instead of him making meals for me to try haha

Oh God! I have a love/hate relationship. I love the women, the traditional attire, Bollywood, Indian food in Western countries, and of course the sites.
On the other hand though, the country us dangerous, corrupt and dirty and still backwards in many ways, and I hate Indian men, because they think so highly of themselves despite living in a cesspool. And they bring their sexist culture to the West. And even some of the girls will get offended at the slightest criticism of their country.
Taj Mahal is spectacular. But as others have said, India is full of spectacular landmarks. I think it's pretty underrated in terms of culture/history, as people don't know very much either about the history or the present day, in general. However, I'm not sure if I'd want to visit, as the traffic looks utter chaos from what I've seen in some documentaries :/
Difficult to have an opinion of a country of a billion people and a wide range of cultures. I've never been there, but expect to soon. But even after that I will have seen one very tiny part of the country so I still wouldn't have a useful opinion
India is a large country in South-Central Asia with a very long history. It recently passed China as the most populous country in the world, and consists of many different ethnic groups and languages.
I work with several guys who have emigrated from India to the US.
There are many.
I also work with some.
I like some of their traditional values. Some of their food. Much better than many other cultures.
there are some things I don’t understand and don’t like.
There are a lot of Indians on this site, actually.
As for what I think of India; lots of beautiful women, great food, interesting architecture.
Sometimes the men are a bit dominating and aggressive.
I don't know much about India to be honest. The architecture looks amazing, but, I am not big on crowds so it may not be in the books for me to visit.
I like Indian women. They are nice and they are rich with a lot of I. T. money. But some of them support feminism and LGBT stuff too much and I don't believe in that stuff. I like normal people not any weird politics.
There is Indians on this site. I've had conversations with quite a few myself.
I respect the culture.
They are a sort of “Civilization state” like China but unlike China India is made up of multiple distinct cultures cobbled together.
I love India and always enjoy talking to Indians... and can relate to so many things
I'm not at all interested in anything Indian or the country itself.
They make nice ink.
They seem to be missing a napolis! Or, at least a na.
Taj mahal is nice, behind it is the designated shitting street. 💩
First images in my head…
Sandals
Crowds
Washing in rivers
Bicycles
Smoke pipes

Ah, the help desk capital of the world! ;)
Had some great friends from there though.
A fascinating country with great food, nice people, and wonderful colleges.
Never been there but I heard it's nice
Good tea, like the milder food.
Not sure. I haven’t been there yet.
I like France that’s impressive to me
