Do you know anybody, who's got rich by working no more than 40 hours/week?

I don't.

I am long convinced that to become rich one has to work beyond 40 hours on the regular these days. Say like 60-80 hours/week and not limit themselves to 40 hours maximum. This is also under the condition not wagecucking for 12h/day on jobs like McDonalds or construction workers somewhere in high risk poverty driven countries or potato pickers in Russia.

I believe doing 60-80h a week for some years will earn me enough to eventually buy a villa in Thailand or something.

Some will moan like "but your health!" or "but when freetime?" but my health is worse with limited income and i can't do anything on my freetime without money.

You can always find a one-in-a-million example of someone who managed to get very lucky doing something that required little time, but that's like thinking that winning the Lotto is a legit strategy for getting rich. While you shouldn't ignore important opportunities, you also should not build your life strategy around rare exceptions, but rather around the norm. In this case, the norm is that people who become wealthy virtually all do so by working 60-80 hours a week, for decades.

Note that this often comes with a price - relationships get strained, divorce rates are sky high, etc. Work-life balance goes out the window. But that's what it takes the vast majority of the time.

Wrong. If you work for someone you will never be rich because you only have so much time in a day and the person you’re working for also will limit how much time you get and earn. And that is their view of how valuable you are to them. You are a consumer, you have to be a producer/ problem solver. Rich people are the content creators the problem solvers.

• buy music your consuming
• you go to the grocery store your consuming
• You buy books and watch tv your consuming

All these things have a ceo that owns the things you consume. You must switch from being a consumer to producing.

I dont think its hard if you can save 50-75% of every check. Its just hard to keep it up. I couldn’t keep saving like that after so many years because I tend to be impulsive when shopping

What do you consider rich? Depending on where you live you can work 40 hr weeks and have plenty of money for living plus savings.

however all of that is buying into a program that costs $ so that you can run your own program.

I've seen real estate investors do well quickly and over time, if they manage it right and as well realtors.

in general, it's going to take hard work to get to a place where you can milk the cow with low effort.

Well, me and some of our relatives, but that's because we live on inherited wealth...

My grandfather, who built it all, worked more than 40 hours a week and sometimes even got hospitalized for overworking.

So I think you can get rich without working 40 hours a week - you have to inherit, or hit a jackpot, o steal. Hell, even drug dealers and coke barons have to work to keep their empires up.

Sometimes people get lucky, but even the lucky rich people usually worked hard to get there. But not always. Some were just in the right place at the right time.

With few exceptions, at best it requires a significant amount of time in the beginning. Not even counting learning necessary knowledge for your goals.

Yes, I do. Mostly, he leverages other people's work to make himself a handsome profit and spends most of his time on vacation.

I know small business owners in construction and other things that are very wealthy. They all worked long hours and still do.
