Why is there an assumption that white people have generational family wealth?

Whenever the subject of white privilege comes up, family wealth is brought up. It is assumed that all white people have privilege simply because of skin color. I for one have no family wealth. Nothing passed down from previous generations. No land, no money, not so much as a knick knack. Nothing. My family tree is full of coal miners and farm laborers. Why is it assumed that I have anything other than what I've earned for myself?

It is all lies. Whether white, black, or other, most people with wealth have earned their wealth. The fact is, in our society blacks are a privileged race with many benefits denied to whites. However, due to their low cognitive abilities, even with their added benefits, on average blacks have less wealth than whites and other races.

I never hear that being an argument when the topic of white privilege is discussed and if that is an assumption they don’t know what they’re talking about. White privilege isn’t saying that white people don’t struggle/have it hard or can’t be poor it’s saying that your skin colour isn’t a factor in your hardships as it might be for people of colour. Example: a white person and a brown person apply for a job and the employer hires the white person over the brown simply because there’s a stereotype brown people are thieves. There aren’t any negative biased views attached to white people cause they haven’t been oppressed. If someone’s white they automatically get the benefit of the doubt. But I think white privilege was more of an issue 20+ years ago since it seems less common today cause being inclusive has become trendy

Because of racism. It is objectively racist to assume qualities about people due to their race. Especially when "oh they have generational wealth" often leads to "you won't be considered for any type of aid." As if white people can't be poor or minorities can't be rich. The world is so backwards, nowadays.
