Clarence Thomas sold his childhood home to GOP donor Harlan Crow and never disclosed it. The justice's 94-year-old mom still lives there.
I think that this illustrates the fact that conservatives are greedy assholes who have no soul or conscience.

From that, I'm not following the problem.
He sold a home to someone who donated $ to him. His mom is living there... assumably rent free. Sounds like a private RE transaction I don't have an issue with. If I am selling a property, I have a right to sell it to my best friend int he whole wide world for whatever price I want... as long as it's arms length.
Now there IS an issue of taxation, and I don't like the govt or how this works but this is their laws since all they care about is money. If they are letting grandma stay there rent free, then that is a TAXABLE event as if they were collecting marketable rent. If they aren't paying income tax on that, then there is a problem.
Beyond that, Clarence can do whatever he wants to if he had rights to sell the property.
He was required to report this sale and didn't. He hid it.
Everyone who works in government thinks they can just do whatever they want.
Yes, sort of like anyone who is a CEO of a large corporation or a board member thinks they can do it whatever they want too , and they are often quite right about that.
Until they are caught if they are.
Perfectly legal, but he was absolutely required to report the sale, and didn't.
Legal yes, but he is still an asshole for doing that while his mother lives there.
Definitely an asshole, and a criminal to boot. The law is perfectly clear about how he should have reported the sale because (a) it was more than $1,000 and (b) it was not the house he was living in. Those are the only two exceptions to the requirement.
