It seems to just keep getting bigger and bigger. The democrats spend money like crazy on stuff that is outlandish and crazy. They don't seem to care, so why should we care? We can't do anything about it right? 🤷🏼‍♀️

It won't be possible to pay it down, and with the clown in office right now devaluing the dollar by printing or typing over 80% of all US dollars that have ever existed since taking office, it doesn't seem like they want it to be possible. The US government is America's worst enemy.

The majority of people who buy USA debt is Americans that buy things in America from the intrest rate that then get taxed. Second buyers are from China. They get too cocky with a war on Taiwan we rip up a trillion dollars of intrest notes. China is bankrupt before the war starts and usa is up trillion not paying intrest.

Our largest spending is military spending. All that equipment is built just to stay in the desert of America. Ukrainian asks for a loan of military aid all that military spending thrown down the drain 5 years ago becomes profit 5 years from now.

If we do actually care about the deficit we would have the highest tax on the rich of upwards of 50% on the highest tax bracket. That's where it was back in 1990s. Bill Clinton had a damn near positive budget short of social security. Bush jr said government shouldn't be in the black and gave a huge tax return then 9/11 happen and the war on terror created the deficit.

Then the 2008 financial crisis. Obama inauguration was January 20, 2009. Limited power to prevent the crisis but did buy his way out of it. Even still Obama left office with a lower deficit then what he inherent from bush jr.

Now trump really double down the deficit and it was covid19 to blame but to accuse democrats of any deficit is insanity. The democrats are the only glue left keeping the books together in modern times.

As long as the debt is a constant fraction of the GDP (which is growing) then its not a problem IMHO, but I think it is growing faster. COVID caused a big increase in the US debt as the govt tried to keep the economy from tanking.

The US debt to GDP ratio is a little high but not higher than many succesful countries, so I'm not too concerned yet

I love how Republicans try to make it sound like the Democrats are the only ones spending money. 4 years of Trump and 8 with Bush and all 12 years, Republicans did not balance the budget and added to the debt too. Both sides do it.

When Trump (Republican) became President after Obama (Democrat), he was very mad at Obama for leaving American's🇺🇸 unsafe by not stock piling our military equipment. The cupboards were bare. When Trump came in as President he spent billions of dollars rebuilding our military equipment including jets, tanks, guns, you name it.
When we exited Afghanistan and they left all of it in Afghanistan. Trump told them he wanted everything out of there and taken back to America - but it didn't happen and he is still pisses for giving billions of dollars worth of our military equipment behind. He still talks about like it happened yesterday.
So, I guess America is not safe again without a well stocked military to protect us
