Geez, look at Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Portland OR, Boston and Newark. They are all democrat run cities. They are all shitholes. People are moving out in record numbers.

then you look at Nashville, Dallas, Miami and Iowa city. All these places are business friendly, have low crime, low taxes and good schools. It really is not much of a choice.

I live in Los Angeles, a place you have never been and know nothing about. It isn't a shithole, and at least we don't have white trash assholes parading around with loaded weapons in public pretending to be soldiers. Nobody is moving out - just try to rent a place to live here.

@msc545 California has had so many people leave that they have lost congressional seats. New York is right behind them. A thousand people a day are moving to Florida. I plan to be one of them. I hope to do it within a year.

Here's something you probably haven't thought of. The people that are leaving are people that we need to have leave. They're people that don't contribute to our economy and are not educated or are involved in industries we wish were not here. I'm glad they're leaving. More of them Need to leave. You're right about people leaving as if it were a bad thing for us. It's not. There are fewer people on the waves to crowd them when I want to go surfing and there are fewer people on our freeways causing traffic jams when I want to drive somewhere. Our beautiful Scenery is less crowded and yet it remains the same: as beautiful as anything in the entire world and certainly more beautiful than your flat fly over overheated ugly red states.

Also, your figure of a thousand people a day moving to Florida is simply bullshit. Florida doesn't have enough space for that many people, but even if it did, the antics of the fascist governor in Florida are certainly enough to deter most sane people.

Democrat-run cities mostly have lots of crime, a high cost of living, bad public schools, and a lot of homelessness and poverty. I grew up in one, so I don't want to live in another one and experience its dysfunctional political and social climate.

Perhaps with some Republicans, but certainly not with all. And that seems to be changing to some extent. There's a number of LGBTQ+ Republican movements and communities. A number of churches are now openly accepting gay Christians, as another example, too. I consider myself more libertarian than Republican but I grew up "Republican" and never felt oppositional to STEM or LGBTQ+.

@crmoore Sure, just like how some democrats own guns and are religious. I actively avoid the extremes because the extremes are completely fucking retarded on both sides. Best place to live would be one where the local government spends too much time arguing with themselves to be a problem for me. At the moment I live in a moderately sized city in one of the more conservative counties of an extremely liberal state. Not ideal, but I have a really good job here so I’m staying for a few more years at least.

And yeah, I got that. But a person’s political position will always play a role in where they live.

Right now, neither. Normally I'd side republican led, because I they won't micromanage my life or fuck with my rights and those of my loved ones, and won't steal too much money in taxes. But now, with them actively stealing women's rights and seeking to punish us, even rape victims, they can rightly go fuck themselves. They're the same type of tyrant as democrats and woke assholes.

it depends on your definition of poor. Most democrat states run big deficits. They have to pay for all these useless social programs and have to bribe people to vote for them with all kinds of benefits. They have homeless living on the sidewalks by the thousands. What they all have in common is a really low standard of living.
Republican states like Florida have a big budget surplus despite having no state taxes. There is low crime and the schools are good. They have school choice and you won't lose your job for not taking the covid vaccine.
