Americans, how do you celebrate Memorial Day?

Well I'm taking care of a client and we decided to have a picnic with some of the other staff and the client's friends from the area around us. So I cook hot dogs on the grill we had macaroni salad we had fruit like watermelon and cantaloupe we had lemonade some had wine and baked beans, macaroni salad and don't forget Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. It brings all the different age groups together to celebrate and remember those who didn't make it home and to those that did and have memories to share.

our town had a ceremony this morning on the square.
They High School and Jr High School bands played, there was a short parade, the usual speeches etc.
There was also a corn and brat roast on the square as well.
We helped to police out and blocked off all the streets that led to the square with some of the fire equipment and ambos.

I don't celebrate it. This is the first time in my life that I've worked for an employer who even gave me a day off for it so I've treated it like a long weekend. Went on some day hikes, went paddling around a lake, stuff like that.
