Could you ever eat another person (cannibalism)?

As the title states, could you ever eat another persons flesh?

Contrary to some stories, its actually perfectly safe to eat the vast majority of a persons body (the brain, liver, and bone marrow however could pose a threat, but even then it'd be very unlikely to have any side effects if the person is healthy).

Would you refuse to out of a moral obligation, could you only if your life depended on it, or would you do it willingly given the chance?

One of the books we read in college was about cannibalism, and how in the places where humans actually practice it (other animals are, naturally, MUCH less discriminating), it's often used as a funerary rite- the deceased is cremated, and their ashes mixed into a communal stew, so a very literal part of them keeps going through the tribe. THAT, I probably wouldn't have a problem with. Likewise, in an emergency survival situation? Well, I'm not going to kill anyone for it, but if they were already dead? Yeah. And I'd be fine with them doing the same if I died first; I have fondness for this body, but once I'm done with it, someone's going to consume it, and better a human life keeps going than just a bunch of a worms or fires.

One of the questions I sometimes use as a conversation starter (or conversation killer, depending on the people involved), is to ask how, if your body was to be eaten, you'd want it be prepared. Most people say something like "laced with poison", as a means of spite at the people they imagine would've killed them; the only group that reliably actually engages with the question are former vegetarians. I'm not one, but I HAVE been in situations where I had to scrounge and catch to survive, which probably influences it. I'm also Catholic, a faith where we incarnate and devour Jesus, who willingly gave of His body and blood for humanity, so that might tip the scales (and incidentally, is why you should never sword fight Jesus in an Italian bakery).
