European Americans is an alternative term for many white people in the U. S.

However, White Americans also include people with ancestry from Northern Africa, for example Tunisia, or from West Asia, for example Iran.

This way, an American with Iranian ancestry is White, but not European American. Someone with German ancestry is both.

I don’t think that means we call white people European Americans. However you could call people with white skin that. It’s up to you, ultimately.

I call black people, African Americans because of a habit that developed in middle school. When writing an essay about enslaved blacks before the civil war the teacher told the students that it was offensive to refer to them as black. My former friends got marked off points for writing black men instead of African American men. I think it just stuck with me after that incident.
