I mean Biden has at least another 10 years at the top left in him.
No but seriously, do you think the U. S is missing out on something by having to move the president on after a maximum of 8 years in charge?

As a guy who's currently 10 miles from the Kentucky state line, where Mitch McConnell has been representing Kentucky since the dinosaur age in the Senate... look what that idea has brought Kentucky. They're STILL one of the poorest states in the nation, worst schools, lowest wages, full of meth, fentanyl, baby mommas and Walmart queens. Mitch HIMSELF even admitted after the last election cycle (Senate) that the ONLY THING that matters to him right now... is that HE REMAINS THE HIGHEST RANKING REPUBLICAN IN THE COUNTRY? Look it up. He was quoted by several sources. THAT... is his ONLY CONCERN? Coming out of and representing such a CRAPHOLE STATE? I honestly don't see much difference between the U. S. now, and a dictatorship like Papa Doc Duvalier in Haiti. Papa Doc killed em fast, here they do it slow... neither gives a crap about the people at all. The difference is... the Haitians we're aware of the danger that was Papa Doc. Americans REALLY BELIEVE that politicians now are looking out for them. Unbelievable.😩
Terms limits for members of Congress are irrelevant as long as the corrupt system of unelected lobbyists (who actually write the laws), bundlers/fundraiserss and big donors, private club RNC/DNC poobahs, unelected bureaucrats, and even Congressional staffers have no limitations on their behavior.
No they shouldn’t. We don’t want to end up with a dictatorship. After all if the president is there longer than they can appoint more supreme justices and etc.
There is a president who has served 3 times in our country. I think it should be done a maximum of 2 times.

How about a slight alteration:
Leave things as they are, but add an option as kind of ''pre-selection'' to make an exception if the country's subjects feel it fit.
Which brings me to one other idea: don't let just ANY idiot ''run'' for the job, but find a mechanism to sort out these idiots before it becomes serious.
AND: once one idiot clearly lost or had been kicked out: no 2nd chance later on...
give the (promising) future a chance to have a future, so to say.
No, we don't want to follow in Russia's footsteps and have a dictator in charge for 20 years. American voters are stupid and would elect the same idiot over and over.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/QFgcqB8-AxEFirst, it is not just a rule. It is a Constitutional Amendment that was passed and put into place during FDRs term. As such it takes a supermajority of the states to ratify another amendment to make that one void. Much as the US did with prohibition. The chances of getting such an amendment through are just about impossible.
No, I think two terms is about right.
And in the real world it is never likely to be changed since it would require repeal of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution. That would require ratification by 38 states, which in this politically divided country today is never going to happen for ANY changes the Constitution.
What is REALLY needed is an Amendment to make the terms of Congressmen longer. They currently have only a two year term which is way too short. It means that the moment they are elected they are already focused on running for their next term and not doing the job they are elected to do. I think their term should be 4 years instead of two.
There is also need for a national debate about limiting the number of terms a Congressmen or Senator can serve. They almost all become corrupt eventually and something has to be done aout that.
But neither of these are likely to ever happen since they would require Constitutional Amendments and that is virtually impossible to do in this political environment.
“I mean Biden has at least another 10 years at the top left in him.”
I would like to think this is a joke but then again you went anon. If you are so “serious” like you said you were in your updated then deanonynize yourself.
Of course that was a joke. It was followed by "but seriously". Should be obvious.
Well considering what I’ve seen other people post on GAG at times I had to wonder.
I only went anonymous because I'm embarrassed by the typo in the title.
Yeah I know how that feels. I make typos all the time given I use my mobile phone for posts.
The 22nd was the Republican response to FDR winning four terms. So who was the first one who could have won a third term whom it affected? Eisenhower.
But with 340 million or so people in the nation, no, there is no reason to allow a POTUS to serve more than two.
This is a joke, right? Biden doesn't have ANY time left at all; he's senile. How can you not see that?
Yes of course that was a joke
i think it should be ammended in a way that guarantees equality, do fdr dnc got 3 terms so whichever RNC gets in should be the one president equally 3 terms. and if die vice president continues.
Not only should we maintain the term limit for the presidency, congress should have term limits as well.
No. I’d like to see a one term limit for presidents and congressmen/Senators. None of these crooks on either side of the aisle should be able to make this a career. One and done.
Maybe reduce it to just one term... and make the same rule applicable to Congressmen and Senators as well?
We need to put that 8 year limit on Congress too.
I don't think so. I think the two ten limit reduce the possibility of the US turning into an authoritarian state.
They’re finding ways around it by having their vice presidents run and win elections. Maybe vice presidents shouldn’t run for president after being vice.
Yes. As long as it's a good President and is working FOR the country instead of against it, like the bozo we've got now!
Nooo. Eight years is enough. After FDR’s death, Congress was smart in establishing the 22nd Amendment.
I like term limits. I'd also like to see a 65 maximum age.
No, they changed it because of FDR. Personally, I think all politicians should have to step aside after two terms in any office.
They should amend the rule that no one party can win two years in a row
I think two terms is good. We should limit legislators and justices as well.
No, they should stop at two. All members of congress should have term limits as well
No. In fact every politician in power right now should be limited to two terms too. No more career politicians please
You have a picture of Obama, someone who literally committed treason against the United States. You're world is definitely going to be shattered.
Don't assume the picture to have any relation to my political views. I just looked up U. S presidents and chose the first picture.
Yeah, I think they should be allowed to serve until the people decide they want someone else
Oh God no, I strongly suggest we expand term limits to senate and house. Too.
I would agree to 3 terms in the person's lifetime. So long as all elected officials have the same limitation in their lifetime also.
Perhaps, voters are the “deciders” and if we wanted Obama for a third term (god I did), that should be on the table. Not sure he’d go for it.
No, if they screw up they should only be allowed to do it for 8 years….
They should ammend psychopaths seeking power.
No and Biden having 10 years
He'll be worm food inside 10 months
remove career politicians
One and done for all of them.
I can get behind that
@SolitarySolace
As soon as a politician gets elected, they spend the rest of their term trying to figure out how to get reelected. That's where the corruption comes in.
I can see that yeah.
@SolitarySolace
Politicians are supposed to be public servants. So how do they all end up being worth hundreds of millions? One and done. Next.
No, I think it's a good rule.
No way. That way lies Dictatum Perpetuum.
FDR, did 3 and a half terms, why?
Are you trolling or are you retarded?
Its 10 years max not 8.
I think 2 Terms is enough.
Ten years in Biden? Are you high?
The Russians, Chinese and the Arabian Peninsula would be salivating harder than a 5 yr old at Toys R Us for the first time, no doubt.🤝
Nope 👎
No. I don’t.
No lol
