Biden is not involved with the DOJs decisions. He can fire the AG but thats it, and the AG appointed an independent prosecutor who doesn't answer to Biden any more than you do - less if you answer to Biden at all.

The reason Trump is being prosecuted is because he committed crimes. Granted, I suspect Garland was prepared to let him get away with those crimes, but it is standard procedure to appoint an independent special prosecutor for any appearance of conflict of interest (i. e. when investigating opponents of the president or even the president himself), so Garland appointed a special prosecutor to take over all investigations when Trump announced his run. The special prosecutor, however, was not prepared to just let Trump get away with it and things have moved fast since then.

It is kind of funny, though. Trump is only running so he can say any prosecution for his multiple crimes is political in an effort to shield himself from prosecution. But if he hadn't announced his run Garland would never have had to appoint a special prosecutor and so would likely still be dragging his feet on the investigation.

presidents do not get involved in the day to day business of the DOJ. they don't tell them what, who, how, or when to investigate. POTUS simply appoints the higher up positions and then the department runs on its own

trump has clearly potentially committed a number of federal and state crimes. like any person who is accused of such things he is being prosecuted as the law states it should. so now we let our (supposed) justice system play out
