Should Deep Fake be illegal?

Seriously how are you going to stop something that basically anyone can do on their computer with commonly available tecnoligy on a platform designed to prevent control?

Government's can pass whatever laws they want and major large vendors in their country might even follow it.
However at best such a law will only provide a false sense of security which in in the case of AI is worse than dealing with the consequences of the problem.

After all it only takes 1 guy with AI to create the problems we are talking about if and only if we all assume nobody is doing it.

If we assume it can be done whats the point in preventing everyone from doing it?
