Why is LinkedIn doing this?

I heard that LinkedIn has been being deluged by AI generated posts in an effort to crash the site. All those fake posts cost the company money. It happened after Musk bought it. Certain very wealthy and powerful entities don't like the idea of free speech.
Who knows, Democrats, WEF globalist types, or foreign governments like Israel might be behind it.
So it's possible the LinkedIn is trying to eliminate AI generated posts.
Uh... Musk bought out Twitter, not LinkedIn; but yeah, I heard LinkedIn has a spam problem 😅
And yeah as an update, I got permanently banned; I suspect it's because I kept spamming invites and I didn't use my full legal name 🙃
Probably Russia and China are behind it if we go by what the American media says about all the problems happening online
LinkedIn is actually part of Microsoft as of 2016
Yeah Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Oculus, and now Threads are under Meta
Did they ask for this kind of information when you signed up? This seems awfully intrusive even for a site like this where you post resumes.
If they don't do this when you first sign up, I'd strongly suspect phishing.
I've signed up with resume sharing serves years ago. They did not require any sort of verification, and all personal info on the resume was blanked before posting it.
I got permanently banned after I sent them government ID pics, but they didn't specify the reason
Whatever, I can always make a dummy LinkedIn account in the future if I really want to, and I already got team members for my startup
I assume they have a real name policy. The names didn't match so you got banned.
It changed after Microsoft bought it. MS is one of the worst personal data minors out there.
Oh what... it's a subsidiary of Microsoft?
Yeah they do sadly
Yea MS bought them several years ago. Then they started changing things. For one thing you could no longer browse through the site without being a member. I never had an account, but I used to have a bunch of former co-worker accounts bookmarked. It was a good way to keep up with what people doing and where they were working.
Do I move on and use something else, or do I create an alt account but this time be more honest?
What is your purpose of having an account there? If all you want to do is see others, then you can create a fake account with a fake name.
It's intended purpose is to link with other people for employment or business purposes. For that you need a real name eventually. Plus, if you use a fake name, it might look bad. It would be like McDonald's advertising by using the name Wendy's.
In the past there were a lot of resume sharing sites. You blanked your name, address and phone number from your resume. I don't think the site had it either, but I can't remember for sure. If someone saw your resume and wanted to contact you, I think they went through the site, which contacted you by email.
There were a lot of other sites where resumes were not publicly viewable. These were not resume sharing sites, but were owned by placement agencies. You gave them a full resume with all personal information. I've done quite a bit of that. I was listed with several agencies through their web site.
Yeah I managed to find team members for my startup; I already told them why I used a fake name and even proved my real name to them via Discord (I did hide some info in my cards though)
For that purpose you can get by with it.
For simply staying connected, which is mainly what the site was designed for, you need real names. That's how I found all my past co-workers. The entire idea of professional networking is word-of-mouth. You can't do that without real names. I don't care about someone's resume. I want to stay in touch with people I have worked with and already know professionally. That's the ONLY way I'd ever give a recommendation, and the only way they'd recommend me.
Resumes are a dime a dozen. Recommendations from people you've worked with professionally go a very long way.
I haven't kept up with Linkedin since they closed it to the public. It may have changed direction. But it was originally for professional networking. For the original intent, it makes sense to use your real name.
Ok then... I made a new account with my full legal name this time; let's see how long before they ban me again
