Why do so many dating sites do this?

Ones that claim to be free are clearly not. Oh sure, it’s 100% free to sign up! You just need money to do anything but window shopping…

These sites often let you do things via special coins/credits and give you some free ones to start with, but the free ones last about 5 seconds. Not nearly enough time to do anything but swipe someone your email and hope for the best, which is insanely unlikely because they had no opportunity to get to know you, let alone trust you.

I’ve written out on both my profile description and profile picture that I can’t afford such worthless currency, but that’s not enough for some people who ask why I Liked them but won’t talk to them…

But why do they say they’re free when they’re not?

To entice you. Many also use what they call a honey trap. They pay people for their likeness, and use an automated service to make you think you have people that like you off the bat so you will pay into it in order to see them.

Dating sites usually incorporate nto their terms of service that they are entitled to create fake profiles. The sites justify this practice as a means of enhancing the experience, encouraging interaction, and monitoring compliance by members with the terms of service of the site.
