+1 yPeople see what they want to see. It’s easier to cry foul than it is self-evaluate and recalibrate your own opinions. I think there’s also two kinds of Republican politicians these days: the ones who back Trump, and the ones who pretend to back Trump because they need the die hard MAGA people’s votes. I guess there are a handful who see through the bullshit and call it for what it is, but it gets drowned out by the loud supporters.
People are so caught up in their political beliefs nowadays that it’s practically a tribal affiliation. So any information that contradicts your belief system is presented, instead of saying “oh, ok, hmmm…maybe I’ll think on this and adjust my perspective on it”, they say “my personal identity and my tribe are under attack!”
Someone I was listening to recently had a great point: 50 years ago we all got our news pretty much from the same sources on TV and in print. We might disagree on the solutions, but we could all generally agree on what a lot of the problems were. But now there are all kinds of news outfits that cater to specific audiences, and we have the internet, so disinformation can be spread to hundreds, thousands, even millions, in an instant. I’ll always maintain that the most damaging lasting impact of Trump’s presidency is this “fake news” horseshit. It’s for sure important to think critically and have a healthy degree of skepticism so you don’t just say “I heard it, so it must be true.” But Trump normalized a slogan to just dismiss any information that doesn’t suit your agenda or paints you in a bad light, and apparently, we aren’t short on dummies who buy right into that idea. It’s a very juvenile mode of thought.
So, to the earlier point of the two kinds of Republicans…these are the voters in question. And before anyone claims this is cherry-picked footage, I watched a livestream of the interviewer that same day, no cuts, and it was just hit after hit after hit with this people. Just absolute cartoon characters. I wish I could remember the specific question, I’m blanking on it, but one lady was asked a serious of questions, she made some assertion, let’s say for a substitute example it was “the FBI search of Trump’s home was unconstitutional!” The reporter asks, “in what way do you feel it was unconstitutional?” I kid you not, without any embarrassment or shame, goes “ummm…”, and turns to someone off camera and is like “Hey, Mike! Why was the Trump raid unconstitutional?”🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Some other pair of women were interviewed, he was trying to ask one all these questions, the other kept trying to jump in and save her because she had no idea what she was talking about. She knew the buzzwords, “Hillary’s emails”, “Hunter’s laptop”, “open Southern border”, “woke”, “Joe Biden gas prices”…. but if you asked even one follow-up question, she was speechless. Most of them were. Like just challenge them to explain that they know what they’re talking about and they just fall apart. These are not serious people. This one chick, the best way I could explain it was like she was at a concert with her friend who is a HUGE fan of the band, but she just knows a couple of radio hits, and you asked the wrong one what her favorite deep cut is. She’s along for the ride, a general well-wisher, but no substance to her beliefs. Everyone she knows where she lives probably likes Trump, he said something she though was funny once or just generally bought into the Trump circus, so she bought a t-shirt and went to the rally when he came to town. These are lemmings.
But those lemmings vote, and the politicians know that. I refuse to believe like 90% of the Republican Party is that stupid that they’d roll with a guy like Trump after everything that’s gone on. They’re probably as astounded as you or I are that the voters still ride with him, but they have to go as the voters dictate. Most of these hardcore MAGA people probably weren’t even active politically in the past, Trump was just a big personality. These people weren’t out like this for McCain or Romney. Republicans desperately need that voter participation, so they can’t abandon Trump, even when so many of them have to know that’s the smart play to right their ship.
So, the simple minded are literally just operating with childlike mentalities of “I like Trump, so everything Trump does is awesome, it’s never wrong, if you say it’s wrong you’re an enemy, and any attempts to even look into him, let alone hold him accountable, are inherently crooked and partisan, but if it was the same exact thing and you told me Obama did it, I’d want him hanged without trial.” Again, these are not people to be taken at all seriously beyond their threat as a voter, but their words are absolute nonsense.

Look…all these politicians are fraudulent. It’s their job to charm us into thinking they’ll represent us how we’d like and that they’re high-character people. Most are not. Republicans, Democrats, Independents…. they’re all trying to hustle us, directly or collaterally in the pursuit of their own well-being.
I kind of reject a lot of the pedophile stuff because so much of it is clearly manufactured, and it gets thrown around loosely because people thinks it gives them an unassailable moral high ground in an argument. Call the guy you don’t like a pedophile, and uninformed onlookers will be like “whoa…are you saying you support a PEDOPHILE, dude?” It’s just a cheap debate tactic. In reality, that’s a very serious accusation, and the accusation shouldn’t be made unless you’re prepared to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt with hard factual evidence, not just throw around gossip and rumors.
As for Joe himself…. no was ever super excited for him, and honestly I think he’s done fine as a president. Most of the things he gets shit for aren’t actually in his power to control, that’s just the blame game from his opponents. I’d like to see him get more done, but he hasn’t done anything or proposed any policy that upsets me, I think his ideas are generally good. - +1 y
I’d be disappointed in the dishonesty, but I’d be relieved for humanity if that were true, lmao
- +1 y
Trump SAID that but he never actually did, did he? Remember, action speaks louder than words. Look at your boy Biden here in action https://youtu.be/hh0PBr6ZUN0

@chefpapichulo you’re one to talk. until you find any evidence of Trump doing any of the above then you better take your own fucking advice cause your brain isn’t so bright either.

And the witch trials carried death sentences. Does that make them legit?

I’m not sure what weird argument you’re trying to create but you said they aren’t serious. So I said “they’re serious.”

A witch hunt is never serious. If you believe in witch hunts, then go back 500 years and start burning witches.

@Nerdvana
Do either one of you know what a witch hunt means? Come on now! It's an idiom and not that complicated. If you know what a witch hunt is then my answers should be perfectly clear.
You don't know the Salem witch trials? You don't know the tens of thousands of "witches" who were put to death in Europe? All someone had to do was point their finger at someone and say "they're a witch" and the "witch" was put to death. Of course there is no such thing as witches, but that doesn't matter in a witch hunt. It doesn't matter if the accusers have any credibility whatsoever.
Everyone was in a frenzy believing all kinds of outlandish things. It resulted in something like 50,000 "witches" being put to death.
A "witch hunt" means you are out to get someone. You will find something no matter what. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. It doesn't matter if it makes any sense. It doesn't matter if it's totally fabricated. All you have to do is make an accusation and all the frenzied people believe it and put someone to death. - +1 y
@WindAtMyBack
“All someone had to do was point their finger at someone and say "they're a witch" and the "witch" was put to death.”
Trump gets to address the charges against in a court of law. He gets the opportunity to put forth a defence. Even by your own description, that’s not a witch hunt.
- +1 y
@RainbowMarinade
The witches were allowed to defend themselves in court also. - +1 y
Well that’s not exactly “ All someone had to do was point their finger at someone and say "they're a witch" and the "witch" was put to death” is it?
However, are saying that Trump’s right to launch a defence with the best lawyers money can buy is the equivalent of the witch trials? I’m betting the witches in those days wished they have even a fraction of Trump’s resources when it came to their defence. - +1 y
@RainbowMarinade
The witch hunt is the process leading to it. They are out to find something whether it exists or not. This has been going on for years. Anyone who thinks this is not pure politics isn't in touch with reality.
The whole thing is a sham and politics at it's worst. I'm really surprised that large numbers of Democrats aren't speaking out against what's going on. I'm surprised large numbers aren't leaving the party because of it. I personally know people have left the Democratic Party and switched sides. They saw this witch hunt for what it is - pure politics at it's worst and darkest form. - +1 y
If investigations that end with criminal charges are witch hunts, what do you call investigations that end with no criminal charges?
- +1 y
@RainbowMarinade it makes no sense to argue with an idiot. This guy has no clue of what he’s saying.
- +1 y
@WindAtMyBack Mark Twain once made a quote that goes “never argue with stupid people, they’re just gonna being you down to their level and beat you with EXPERIENCE.” These 3 right here made a prime example of that, they clearly don’t have the IQ to comprehend you and just for this they think they’ve won the argument. Don’t waste your time and sanity with such individuals

@FunkyMonkee its a felony in America, period. but of course since it was found under the Biden administration then democrats will look the other way and stick their tongue far up their asses like usual.
also I'm pretty sure that laundring money and treasoning are illegal in American soil as well. which is what I tried to explain to him about Biden sending money to Ukraine despite the fact their war with Russia has nothing against us; which is what I tried to explain to him but unfortunately it seems like his brain is not capable of understanding any of that.
