My home state is Washington, and nine counties have a higher per capita income than the US average. The Democrats have been winning in these counties. Also, 9 of the 10 richest counties in Washington have been voting for Democrats

My birth state which is Oregon, and four counties there have a higher per capita income than the US average. The Democrats have been winning in these counties as well. Also, 7 of the 10 richest counties in Oregon have been voting for Democrats

Depends on how we are defining rich. Someone in rural Wyoming making 85k may be living quite better than someone in San Fran making 120k. I left the coast nearly a decade ago and my net worth is significantly higher now, despite the drawdown in the market. My quality of life is exponentially higher (and more luxurious when I choose it to be) because of the passive income I can generate out here owning multiple properties.

My former neighbors here had to sell their house because they "couldn't afford" the foundation repair they needed and their 4 car payments. Now I know they weren't making more than I am, and my significant other at the time was a pretty good earner too, but they were making 6 figures and my S. O. didn't contribute towards this property, so her income was irrelevant.

It's never about how much you make it's about how much you spend. Look at all the lottery winners that go broke.

If you're in a higher cost of living area you get paid a higher cost of living salary, but that doesn't mean it offsets the difference exactly. I work in D. C. I get D. C. locality pay. If I take a job back home I take a 10% pay cut, but the cost of living back home is significantly lower than D. C. so my real pay would actually be increased, hence why I'm checking the job postings every month. It wouldn't make me 10% poorer to make that transition.

Research shows just the opposite. Households with less than $30,00 incomes identify mostly as Democrats and households with higher than $100,000 incomes identify slightly higher as Republicans than Democrats.

You can look at the states that wemt heavily for Trump. They are the poorest states in the country, and the least educated, with the exception of Mormon Cultland.

Super rich billionaires like Bill gates and Mark Zuckerburg are democrats and the entire welfare class are democrats. The middle class and particularly those that have good paying jobs and pay the most taxes are mostly Republicans. I am not sure how it all averages out.
