Why do republicans not want regulation of things like how oil companies drill etc.. but they'll regulate the books read in school?

Talk about misrepresenting the other side.

Most conservatives do want regulation, they just want more common sense regulation for energy production and less domestic sabotage of our own companies. Our economy runs on oil and we can produce our own oil and gas a lot more environmentally friendly than the countries we’re paying to get the same amount.


Protecting children from predators and adults who want to teach children inappropriate sexual content doesn’t need an explanation. Either the government steps up, or the parents will.

Well, the answer to that is simple
(a) Big business funds politicians in the USA with BIG money so the politicians do what big businesses want in order to get their funds in order to remain in power - hence reduced regulation.
(b) Many republicans are right wing nutters (not John McCain as an example). Not ALL republican are right wing nutters but many are (eg MTG, Boebert and quite a few others). These people believe in MIGHT Is RIGHT (hence the fascination with having assault rifles) and they believe that theyir bigotted religious view should be forced on the whole country because, well, GOD said so - even if GOD did NOT say so.

This is the 1984 syndrome. All people are created equal but some are just more equal than others and because we are the more equal ones (in out own view) we should have the right to steer everybody lse onto our "correct" path.

I think it's hilarious how Biden committed to end domestic drilling when he was running for president, and then when gasoline prices spiked he reversed his decision and expanded oil drilling to combat all the criticism and low approval ratings he was getting.

It's not that republicans don't want oil companies to be regulated, it's that they want the US to be energy independent and insulated from the power foriegn countries have over us because of oil. Look at what Putin has done to Europe.

Some books should not be freely available to young children in school. This is just common fucking sense.

Yes. If companies are heavily regulated they are too restricted from making business decisions. So if republicans want less regulations they will vote for them to help our businesses that employee us
