Who is telling young people that race is a social construct?

Erm.. Its a well established fact. There simply does not exist a scientific definition of a human race despite the best efforts of countless scientists, including the Nazis by the way, and as a result it could only ever be a social construct. One or the other. A or B.

Well to overly simplify something. Either something is based in reality, and as such must be in association with something that exists or it does not in which case it is something we have just made up.

For example, Nationality does not exist. Humans pulled the concept of nations out of our collective asses and then pretend that being born under specific circumstances makes you German or American or whatever. Nothing that reality actually cares about and does not make any special significance towards. A person born in Germany would not be physically different from the same person if they were born in America, it is just a change in location.

That is in contrast to for example the different elements such as Iron or oxygen or carbon. Those things have a physical representation and a description for what they are. You can measure iron and establish that it is in fact iron by using its scientific definition. The ability to test and confirm.

You can't test and confirm someones race. You can fall back on the "DNA though!" but that is just an estimation that we arbitrarily set up, it is not an objective test. Therefore it can't be "real" and must be a social construct.

What do you want me to say? I do not need anyone to tell me that something does not exist, because it does not exist and I can see that it does not exist. The lack of existence of races is what told me they were a social construct.
