Why do people look down on Bus drivers?

Being a Bus driver myself I’ve noticed people turning their nose up at Bus drivers and people in other sectors of low paid work. Why are people like this?

Perhaps because they think that being a bus driver is not a decent job. They believe that only workers of high paid jobs such as doctors and lawyers should be respected. It's stupid and nonsensical to me.

Well I don't look down in them but I've had some pretty awful experiences with bus drivers. But I just look down on those individual ones because they were rude or jerks to me. I value transit workers.

Because people are stupid or just filled with vanity.

You're earning an honest living and don't depend on anyone to put food on your table and that's commendable.

I don't. Except for the asshole who closed the door on my daughter as she was getting out of the bus. It was pretty obviously his last day as a driver.

Most bus drivers are very decent people, not all there is toxicity just like any other profession and there are some downright nasty people who hate their lives, trust me I would know.

But there are many of them as for school bus drivers many are retired truck drivers, some are retired first responders (Leo’s, fire, EMS, etc), some are military vets, there are some who are soccer moms trying to make some extra money, etc. I genuinely can enjoy connections with bus drivers and hearing their stories. Even the ones who are just middle aged drivers and that’s what they like doing are mostly people who are pretty decent. As for the ones who are just full of piss and vinegar I can’t help that.

As for city bus drivers most of them are very nice as well.

Classism. That, and not thinking things through; as a school bus driver, I was making decent money and working only 4-5 hours a day.

I dont look down at them at all. The fact that they can drive a giant vehicle amazes me every day I go to work

Because people have no clue that bus drivers (like many other occupations) are what actually keep our economy moving.
