So here's the reality. In this country you get the right to be presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. I say let this all play out and let courts truly decide from the evidence presented by both sides. You will have groups that don't believe the outcome whichever way it goes. But for Republicans, if we want to win the White House back, we have to wake everyone up. to the reality that two things are the same no matter what you think. Yes, Trump can easily win the primary. He clearly doesn't think he has to earn it as evidenced by his lack of respect not showing up to the debate. But while Trump can easily win the primary, he cannot easily win the general election. The 8-10 million Republican voters that are the real reason Trump did not win in 2020, will not vote for again in 2024. That dissent in the Republican party has only grown since then according to several polls and has an even greater dissent among independent voters which are crucial to win against a growing Democratic demographic. So yes, he has enough of the Republican party votes to win a primary. But by electing him as the nominee, you are likely electing Biden to another term because he won't win the general election. I would highly suggest getting behind a candidate that wants to be real with the American public and that can actually get elected in November next year, not just elected as a nominee in July. That truly becomes a waste of a vote honestly. After watching the debate, I personally think that Nikki Haley is that candidate that can pull back at the divide within the party. Let the Trump indictments play out. If he is truly innocent, then let the evidence come out in court to vindicate him. If he is truly guilty, then let that path take its course as well. But let's stop pretending like Trump can beat Biden when a large chunk of Republican voters won't even vote for Trump in the general election. If Trump is found guilty though, then he should be required to fulfill a sentence like anyone else. It's that simple. If you were found guilty of something then you would be required to do the same. So let's stop acting like he is different from everyone else. And let's stop talking about what the consequences should be when he hasn't even been found guilty in court. Then we can discuss consequences. Because let's be honest, there will be plenty of time between trial and a sentencing trial if he is found guilty to discuss all this.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Fuck 'em if they die in prison.

I am not concerned about Donald Trump, I am concerned about every president going forward being afraid of being put in this position if they choose to voluntarily give up power.
It is only a matter of time before one of them choose not to do so, as many democrats tried to convenience everyone Trump almost didn't. With this act you have created the conditions where a future president won't make the same mistake and risk their untrustworthy challenger getting such power.

"I'm sorry" is what you say when you step on someone's foot. These people KNOWINGLY conspired against the PEOPLE of the United States and the Government of the United States. Knowingly. Knowing the election was lost, not stolen. Knowing they were willing participants in a terrible lie that tore up the nation. Knowingly.
The bullshit will pour out of their mouths and the mouths of their attorneys that "they didn't know. They had GOOD REASON to believe it was stolen", but they will have no proof and never did.
These white-collar crimes are worse than some mere shoplifting or grand larceny. This was attempted deception of the highest order and an attempt to overthrow the government and the will of the people. Coups do not HAVE to be violent, although Jan 6th certainly was, unless of course you're a Republican or Tucker Carlson.
Every one of them deserves real jail time, including and most especially, Trump, Meadows, Miller, Guiliani, Stone. His SCOTUS picks have fucked the nation for years to come, until Thomas gets forced to resign. Jail them ALL.

Political courts rarely do much beyond miscarrying justice, thou absence a trial thus far we simply have executive abuse of power in the form of the attempt to prosecute the supposed violation of both illegitimate and even non-existent crimes.
As I said, ultimately it doesn't matter, you've already crossed the rubicon, i would say take your best shot but really that doesn't matter either. It hardly maters at all what happens to Trump at this point.
The country will be destroyed by what every other politician going forward will do with this same power and to avoid being so rail roaded. As such it hardly matters who wins the 2024 election and whatever else they do precedent has been set. The required self-restraint, trust and good faith for democracy to work has been lost.

Again I've said it many times it really doesn't matter anymore what happens in the court. Whether it sets the former president free or throws him in jail on phony charges will not change the fact he and all future presidents had been spied upon and can be persecuted if they foolishly agree to give up power to such people.
Whether or not Joe Biden had picked the right people to carry this out against his political enemies changes nothing in what future presidents might do to remain in power or persecute their predecessor foolish enough to actually give them power.

Asking for a recount isn't illegal, saying "we only need one more vote" when you're in the middle of recounting and finding invalid votes is not illegal.
What these people are doing is exactly what they said he was going to do "when he looses the election" the first time and then they did it themselves immediately after.
And not that I think the election interference was mostly in the form of voter fraud. I'm sure it existed in a minimal capacity, I'm sure every election in any country has some amount of voter fraud.

We all have the right to express our opinions, especially political opinions. It's the foundation of the First Amendment. In this case, those opinions were supported by mountains of facts which have all been documented and verified and, in many cases, actually shown on video so we can see it with our own eyes. Yet we are told it didn't happen and people were prosecuted for it. So these people have nothing to apologize for, and no one has presented any evidence they were wrong about 2020.
And collusion is not illegal and never has been illegal, and conspiracy is only illegal when the underlying act is illegal, and it wasn't. It's protected by the First Amendment. If they can take away the First Amendment protection of people that rich and powerful (by trying to put them in prison), they can take away yours at any moment. So, being offended by something you didn't want to hear vs. anyone facing the possibility of having their freedom taken away. That's your battle.
I am pretty sure Trump cannot be convicted unless they can prove that HE KNEW he lost.

The reality is you cannot escape identity politics. Everyone subscribes to it in one form or another, yourself included.
