Sooo just a thing I saw on the news. And I, personally... think this is not a good idea. Not because kids would be getting on my nerves and now bullying each other physically instead of digitally like the old days... but those little squirts are money makers. And social media adds to them coming in easier. From what I heard, this is a dumb idea and not much support is behind it.

I think it's a good idea but that there should be some form of kid and teen safe versions of social media that's better monitored and more limited. Like with a built in limited time of use to prevent addiction, an actually good moderation to to avoid bullying, good moderation of content, efficient banning of adult predators trying to get in, good moderation of pictures they would post of themselves... It would never happen though because Social media is made with kids in mind mostly, they don't care about us adults using it. Addicted teenagers are the main money makers of social media. They don't care at all about the well being of these kid and it won't happen any time soon. It wouldn't be necessary if people would raise their kids right tho. A lot of well raised kids are perfectly able to safely use social media but they are a minority. But what I see almost daily ( I work with customers) is kids barely out of diapers throw the worst tantrums in public because they wanted to scroll TikTok. I see little boys who didn't grow out all their teeth trying to act though and talking like a grown misogynist for TikTok videos talking about beating and groping bitches and little girls imitating whorish thirst traps dances also for TikTok right next to their parents. I see 10yo kids do that alone in the streets, posting whatever without supervision for every predator to see. These kids live in their own bubble and don't realise who the people watching their stupid shit are, it's not mostly their kid peers. Personally I would love 21 only social media that doesn't HAVE to turn into a porn sharing and dating plateform. Like just a normal social media but without kids.

All I could find is people suggesting kids under 16 should be banned from social media. It's not that I think that's a bad idea, but since it could never be enforced, I think lawmakers should focus on things they can actually change.

I love this. The republicans became really salty over children organizing themselves on social media to make fun of them that they came up with this half baked idea. Of course, its not going anywhere but its a measurement of how much the Republicans feelings were actually hurt and how effective the kids on social media actually was.

Alcohol was banned in America, one of the reason it's no longer is because people didn't want to stop drinking it. The same goes with social media, people will not let this go.
