Examples aren't always meant to be perfectly sound. Often times they're deliberate exaggeration, like this one. So let me break it down for you.

Samoans - tend to be very tall and broad

Size = intimidation factor

So jumbo size them to be the biggest and most jacked one, is an exaggeration.

Getting attacked and beaten up by a regular dude happens a lot. Look at prisons for example. The pecking order isn't established by looks, it's done by actual ability. You can be the biggest dude on the yard and get dropped just as easily by a short dude with a shank.
