Put me down as an ardent Anglophile. I have not a touch of British blood in me, but I am an enormous admirer of Britain.

In fact, I know all three verses to "God Save the King." I am not sure even my British friends know all three verses. Beyond that, I have traveled to Europe a number of times, but I always make sure that when I do, I spend at least a little time in Britain at the end of the trip.

To which I would add that I have been to every part of the UK save Northern Ireland. I have toured Parliament. Attended Prime Minister's Questions. I also got lucky enough to get a special tour of Buckingham Palace. I've been - briefly - into Downing Street and I toured the Royal Navy's main base at Portsmouth.

Just one thing, though. Your question divided Scotland from Britain, That is not quite correct. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is made up of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland (Ulster.) The Republic of Ireland being distinct and independent of the rest of the UK. (I've been to Ireland, too.)

So in your question, I was not sure what you meant by British and then separating out Scotland from "British." Technically and legally the Scots are British. If asked to make a distinction between "British" and "Scots," I could not. I like them both.

So, strictly speaking, my answer is British and Scottish. Then, having said all that, I honestly have to say that I like all three.
